OK, wheels. Since we're not absolutely sure what engine is going in it, get 14" 6J and something like 35et. If you're buying new, Compomotive MOs are excellent but difficult to find secondhand. PCD should be 98mm. Lots of guides around telling you what all this means, but essentially you're after a stock FIAT/Lancia/Alfa set up. Put 195/45/14 Uniroyal Rainsports on them: they're very cheap (actually made by Conti) and suit the Cinq better than anything else.

For suspension, I'd just follow what Aaron put on Emma's car: Aaron is old enough to not lower or over harshen things and brave and skilled enough to test they work. (Emma's dad is said to be older and braver and more skilled :eek:) Good guides here to all that.

For disks, start off with pattern Alfa 155 disks: they're 257 x 20mm and vented and cheap from your local factor. Match these to stock pads (for now) and Marea calipers from a scrappy. Kripit has put up a list somewhere, but the important thing is to get the late type calipers (identified by an external spring) and get the wide ones to take the wider ventilated disks.

Lots of stuff on all this in the FAQs and guides. So many people have done this now, it's becoming routine!

No idea of the codes: I looked for something on Emma's engine, could find nowt sensible. You're after a Panda 100hp, a recent Stilo or Grande Punto or 500 1.4 16v and gearbox. Minor differences in tune, but all fundamentally the same motor.

If confused, the pics in the thread are a good reference.

im on ebay now triing to get some of the stuff i need see when you say start off withalfa 155 disks and match these to stock pads for now what do you mean start off with and for now i wont to get what im going to need on thee for the 1.4 16v coz thats what im going for now so should i get them bits or sumfink els
 
Okay you're going to do an engine swap, so the first thing you need to do is...
1) go for 14" or possibly 15" wheels - you need more grip to put down more torque without problems and to get bigger brakes under
2) get better brakes - as you'll be going faster so you need to stop faster
3) uprate the suspension - as you're asking the chassis to handle more weight, stopping power & torque so you need up make the handling better

For wheels you'll want 14 or 15" wheels at 6J with ET35 give or take. You can also try 6.5J rims but 7J rims will take some work to get to fit properly.

For brakes search for 'Punto GT brakes', there's loads of threads on this subject, it's a simple bolt for bolt conversion, you'll need 14" or bigger wheels to fit over these brakes.

Suspension is trickier. The two setups I like best for road use are Bilstein dampers with H&R springs & Spax adjustable dampers with Eibach springs. Both give better road holding and ride quality than the stock dampers. the H&R springs are a 15mm drop on a sporting, the Eibach look more like 30mm. There are more kits out there but I've not really had much experience with them.
 
Those are basically the discs you have now. What you need is the callipers, discs and pads from a Punto GT or various other cars. The cars are listed here .
 

No. Forget eBay for the brake disks. Go to your local motor factor (not Halfords) and get the ones I said. For one thing, while the prices on eBay for brake disks are good, add the carriage on and the price really isn't.

I say start off with simply because 90% of the improvement comes from the bigger disks, calipers and pads. Later on, if you feel the need, you can mess about with more expensive disks and pads. You'll need 14" wheels for them to fit under, and the calipers and disks work together, not seperately.
