Hi everyone,

I am failing at locating where the ECU is located on my Fiat Ducato 2007 3.0 160 hp.
I need to send it to repair and I would like to extract it myself, instead of sending it to the garage.

I have the workshop manual but I am unable to see anything related to this.

Thanks in advance!

On the ones I have had it has been in the engine compartment between the air filter / fuse box and the fuel filter. it is shown by white arrow in this photo which is of a LHD vehicle but ECU is in the same place on RHD

Thanks a lot for your reply.
I will have a look! I can certainly locate the fuse box, air filter and fuel filter, but I couldn't identify by eye the ECU. I will have a further inspection. Thanks!

You can't miss it. It is behind the metal bracket it is attached to with a big cable going to it.

Attached is a photo of a used x250 3.0ltr ECU, advertised on Ebay.

Before going to the expense of sending your ECU for testing, have you posted your current problem on forum, or is this related to your EGR problem posted sometime ago?

Thanks @Communicator !

Indeed it is related to my previous post: https://www.fiatforum.com/threads/ducato-error-code-p0403-egr-valve-cleaning-diy-help.502822/

I finally took it to a garage and they diagnosed it as an ECU problem. The diagnose only has been £123,62, and I didn't even request for it. Now they have quoted me about £450 pounds to send it to a specialist to check if they can repair, but they do not even assure me that the problem is going to be solved, so I started feeling scammed and that is why I am trying to do it myself for a cheaper price, and learning in the process..

The problem seems to be in the ECU, and they also told me that some job has been done to it previously.
Of course, I am open to suggestions :)

Best regards, and again, thank you very much

I would be suprised if the it was a faulty ecu, the most common fault is the solonoid valve located under the middle of the windscreen skuttle, it gets wet from the water ingress and fails, the problem could also be from a incorrect MAF reading. There have also been issues with the wireing harness near the ECU chaffing on the metal bracket.
If you would prefer to work on the van yourself I would suggest you get your own diagnostics to save the high cost of a garage plugin and miss diagnosis

Mike
