Re: EBAY mod Chip Power Increase UPTO 20BHP VariPower etc.

i put a chip on my car, just to see how good it is. well what can i say except that it is flipping crap.!!! i drive a 1999 seicento with an 899cc engine and just from home to work and back again (for one day!!!), which takes me about 1 hour there and back, it drank 1/4 of a tank of petrol "and that was from home to work". without the chip, the car would do about 1/4 of a tank of petrol in about 2-1/2 to 3 days. and just remeber that the tank holds 30 litres of fuel. (from empty to full) so if i was you , stay away from this item unless you want to keep paying for petrol every 5 mins. thanks, fiatseicentoexpert.(n)

If these people selling them on ebay are selling them in ebay shops, surely it is possible to report them to ebay and threaten to take them to trading standards for purposefully misleading consumers into a buying a product that is significantly different from the description.
For example I have seen some resistors being sold advertised as adding 15bhp, being completely safe for the car, as it keeps the sensor reading within FIAT's specification, and the even say that it can improve fuel efficiency.

Re: EBAY mod Chip Power Increase UPTO 20BHP VariPower etc.

i can see ya point, when the chip is fitted, all it does is put more fuel in to the engine. when you do that the engine runs even hotter, so it goes out of fiats limits. ebay sellers say that its ok, so that thay can sell the chip.

Re: EBAY mod Chip Power Increase UPTO 20BHP VariPower etc.

I've bought one, was buy 1 get 1 free. Goin try it out for a day, and then sell them on to some people i know who are total boy racers and drive up and down in matching Corsa's.(LOL)
They will snap them up at £10 each lol. Only got them for £1.30.

Re: EBAY mod Chip Power Increase UPTO 20BHP VariPower etc.

hi, just got a cheeky cinq 1.1 sport last week, im prepping it for the MOT, i've had many problems (especially with the handbrake design) but unfortunetly it runs like a sack of ~ ~ .
Its got a big K&N filter straped straight to the throttle boddie and there is a number of pipes with screws jamed in the end (n) . if it has one of these "mods" does anybody know how i can identify it and remove it safely,

Many Thanks,

P.s if your local(doncaster) and have:
backbox,
midbox,
steering wheel,
and a purple passenger door let me know (y) cheers

show us pic of engine bay it will be on air tempature wire.
get rid of the k&n standard air box will be better

Hi, here are some picks as requested

PIPE 1 has a 90 degree bend either end

PIPE2 is a larger pipe with a green stud jamed in the end

hope the links in the pics work and everything, never done this before sorry pics are so HUUUUUGE !

wow what a mess...hahah ..i had a punto before used some dodgy chip and it was also poooohh...

Re: ermmm

looks like it does the same as the resistor chips by telling the engine its got cold air when it hasn't.

is nicely described though without telling you that it will kill your engine because the chip tellsit its got cold air when its not, plus if its giving an even richer air/fuel mix it means even more less MPG. which nobody wants.

Re: ermmm

Adapting the oxygen sensor is a way of producing more power if as the description says it can signal a weak mixture. Unfortunately most modern ecus have a limit as to how much it can richen the mixture before it flags up an EOBD error and defaults to a default map, so you get the warning light on and less power! If you look at the power graphs you will see that they are full power graphs (wide open throttle) unfortunately this is exactly the time when the ecu ignores the oxygen sensor so no improvement would be felt. The time you would feel a slight improvement would be accelerating on light throttle and the time you would feel a big disadvantage is the engine would be running lumpily on idle as the engine was running richer than normal. I prefer a red stripe down the side of the car as this has exactly the same effect.
