I live about a mile from a motorway. I've found a few times that mine is often regenning as I reverse into the drive, after leaving the motorway a mile ago. It's like it only got going after I left the motorway - I notice the stink wafting round the car, so go for a ten-minute blast round some country roads until it's finished.
This could all be coincidence, but my theory is that the windchill effect of doing 70mph, together with the low effort required by the engine means it will never complete while cruising - it needs lower speed and higher revs to get hot enough.
