On Tuesday 10 July 2012, the maximum final value fee for private sellers will increase from £40 to £75. This new final value fee cap will only impact listings with a sale price above £400.
This change applies to private sellers and will only affect items which are listed from 10 July 2012 onwards. Fees for business sellers are unchanged.
Full details of eBay fees for private sellers can be found here.

There's a recession (depression) on and it's not going to get any better any time soon while we're doing a backstroke in the Euro toilet bowl.

eBay sales have been doing down continually for the last few years so they need to cover their losses.

They've been going down due to high fees and forcing of PayPal (and their high fees).

This won't help!

Yep it's a self propelled spiral.

A lot of the issues with eBay are due to pilocks as well. If something of mine does sell I'd say one in three of those sales are a waste of time and effort as you get mucked about and strung along so by the time you think "sod I'll give someone a second chance offer" they've bought the same item elsewhere; and the merrygoround starts again.

If anything I'd imagine the sale of used things on ebay will have gone up as people are trying to save money on new prices in the shops.

Gumtree is becoming more popular as ads are free and so is local wanted/sale sites on facebook. Ebay will just have to ride the economic storm like the f*Cking rest of us.

Boycott day on ebay anyone?:)

Yeah I try to boycott it as much as I can. However Ive got a specialist item for sale and ebay is the only way I'll get what it's worth :(

Ditto. I've had something on gumtree for a week now, not a dickie bird, going on ebay tonight and I bet it'll get more attention.

I know all companies have overheads etc, but when you think of ebay and it's potential over heads for what it actually does, the money they're making almost seems more criminal than what footballers earn!
