Technical Doblo 1.4 8V idle issues

Hi all
My wife has a Doblo 1.4 8V which she has had for around 5 years now, it has been a great little car until now..

The problem i am getting is the engine rpm at idle is too high to pass the mot on the analyzer according to the garage it should be between 600 and 800 rpm and because it is doing 850 - 870 it is failing the emissions check.

Any ideas would be welcome CO and HC are within range Lamda is within range. all cylinders on a dry compression check are up at 12 bar and all pretty even.


any ideas because its just to nice a car to scrap purely because i cant get the rpm in spec.

Personally I think your garage might be a bit picky..

Traditionslly you would move onto the 'FastIdle' test and it should then be a case of holding a higher rev band..and checking emissions

However.. there were a raft of new rules recently.. since Ive had a petrol MOT..

So that may not be an option


What year is this vehicle..?

Some characteristics can be adjusted.. some cannot

Take it to a different test centre with an older more experienced tester.


Turning on rear heated window and interior
Vent fan and headlights may drop idle rpm by enough.

The Car is a 2008 reg has done 119k miles, putting electrical load on just increases the idle rpm.

600-800 sound's a little low for idel rpm range
Most cars would be in the 700-900 area of so I'd think?
My 1.4 16v theme to run just over 800 once warmed up

The natural idle speed I found online for MOT emmision test for 1.4 doblo was 700-800rpm
