Iv got a new alarm system coming and one of the features of the alarm is that it has remote engine start.

But I can not use this feature as the immobiliser will stop this from working as the barrel will not be registering the chip from the key.

Dose anyone know of a work around or
Is there any software out there to reprogram ecu to disable the immobiliser.
(just want some names for ecu software)

Well thanks for any help anyone can give

Hi,
Remote engine start systems are illegal in the UK as is leaving the engine running un-attended. This is why they are not fitted from new in the UK even if available on the same car in other markets. I'm pretty sure your insurance company would hve something to say about it too.
Yes there are exceptions for emergency services and vehicles with engine powered work equipment. Most of the modern implementations for these specialist vehicles allow key removal but stop the engine if you touch the brake or clutch. They don't have remote start and technically are not unttended.

No longer true.

Recent new rules and laws now (as of this month) allow you to remotely start and operate your car (park) remotely from a distance of 6 meters.

However in respect of this thread, no insurance company would cover a car fitted with remote starting and the engine immobiliser bypassed, so to fit it would invalidate your insurance and thus you’d be driving without valid insurance.

You have always been able to leave a vehicle running unattended where systems are fitted to prevent the vehicle being driven away without the keys.
Many emergency vehicles have this feature. So when parked at an emergency a paramedic response car can keep its fluid warmers and blood coolers running as well as charging their equipment, radios and laptops

Hmm,
I guess the new remote parking control regulations might cover remote starting if it was part of an automatic parking system (not the case for OP) but you have to be in attendence (within 6 metres) of the car. I did mention the exemptions for specialist vehicles :)

You did indeed, I skim read and missed that part.

Yes lots of new BMW Audi’s and Tesla allow you to control the car from an app on your phone or by the key fob it’s self to put the car in and out of parking spaces or to use the cars automatic parking features
