Hi everyone, I seem to have a dead spot on accelerator when changing gears especially 1st to 2nd, the car pulls back and then jumps forward and very difficult to hold at low revs, sometimes happens when holding at constant speed. Any ideas on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

My other Fiat does the exact same thing and it's not a fault. You were not supposed to press the accelerator when changing the gears because it is totally unnecassary. Idle speed is controlled by the computer. It will not stall, don't worry.

Also when you want the car to go very slowly, just release the clutch and don't press the accelerator. Very useful for parking the car. However, I believe that the car learns to compensate the pedal movement and sometimes it can be quite unexpected. So a little touch on the pedal in 1st gear can make the car accelerate. All this behaviour changes when the car reaches operating temperature, then it gives full control of the throttle. I thought that it must be a fault, but no, it really is how these electric throttles work and it just takes a little time to get used to it.
Really interesting, I did a reset of the 'self learning parameters' using multiecuscan to resolve a poor idle on Fiat500 1.2 petrol 2012.

Before the reset I could press the accelerator whilst changing gear, just has I was taught to drive decades ago. Everything was smooth.

Now, if I keep my foot on the accelerator whilst changing gear, I can feel the accelerator pedal 'sinking' in or 'droping' as if they was no resistance. Same with the brake pedal.

So I assume, over time, the ECU learns to compensate for the driver!

It could be you are not using enough revs, it's a very smooth engine for a diesel
and it suckers you into changing up early, I don't mean rev the whatsits off it
just use a few more revs,

What do you mean the pedal sinks?

There should be minimal resistance on a throttle pedal on any car anyway

Certainly shouldn't be anything holding in up in or out of gear
I'm in a Fiat500 but this tipo post on pedal movement attracted my attention.

So my foot is resting on the accelerator pedal as I change gear. During the gear change, I can feel the accelerator pedal slightly dropping or sinking to the floor by itself... feels like a drop of 0.5cm to 1cm. Seems to enter some dead spot. Really weird and hard to describe.

Gasp, everything back to normal for me.

After executing a reset of the 'self learning parameters' using multiecuscan to resolve a poor idle on Fiat500 1.2 petrol 2012 I have weird behaviour of the brake and accelerator pedals when changing gear. Completely disappeared!

My only assumption was that the ECU entered some re-learning process after the reset. It disappeared after an estimated total driving time of less than 2 hours (1h motorway, 30min city), 4 engine restarts, 40+ gear shifts.
