Nice big charger
If the battery had any life in it before charger connected wrong way round it may have had enough juice to blow the fuse.
Which may have alerted your "friend" that something wrong.
I suspect that charger has quite a high value fuse so didn't blow.

Now that I have corresponding PIN numbers from ecu to injectors do I select the ecu plug numbers to corresponding injector for continuity .i need to check if ecu has fried! This is with battery disconnected.
Somewhat confused.

So are we.

You will have to send the ecu to a specialist to see if it is damaged(yes) and if it can be repaired.

When we travelled to Liverpool we collected the replacement engine and gearbox and sooo- much more . Wasn’t expecting this problem though.

So have an Ecu and ode box and key, so wary of swap over at the moment !

Wow ....if you have a spare ecu and imobiliser ecu and key all coded together from the same vehicle you are incredibly lucky.

You don't have to change your locks if you can very carefully extract the imobiliser chip from your replacement key and swop it with your existing key.

Or just put the CODE aerial around the KEY that THE ECU is looking for.. ;)

old mk2 punto trick :)

Swapped the innards of the key with the original , swapped the code box , left the Aerial, as it should be the same and changed the Ecu , wary of starting and went back to shop with bad battery.

I wonder if shop will spot battery has been knackered by reverse charging?

White stick pointing at imobiliser chip
If you have this style of key.
You need to keep this chip its glued into it's half of key shell , the pcb is programmed to the remote locking unit in car.
So you need to move just the half shell with the glass chip in it from you replacement key to your existing key. 1593516996872.jpeg

Yes it’s the same , the whole pcb and chip have been swapped , so you think this is a step too far ?
I dare say the doors are programmable as I’ve done this with L/r, however easily rectified.

Just swap the printed circuit boards back over :) so you have your existing key with just the back(with glass chip) of the new key.
