Styling De badge problem

Hello,

I am about to de badge my car and looking upclose my car has like little white dots aruond the badge... this made me think of a respray been done but she said there hasnt been one? I am scared that if I debadge i will end up with massave white patch...

Any ideas?

Do the white patches look/feel raised or recessed? If they're raised then chances are it's probably just old polish so should clean off pretty easily. If it's recessed then I'd say it probably has been resprayed but it doesn't look like it to me.

Looks like blistered lacquer coat. Has reacted to cleaning/polishing liquid that's been left on for too long.

Hard to say from the picture.. As they are just stuck on i'd say remove them anyway, see what you find and if it'll clean up. If not then you'll be able to at least touch it up a tad and replace badges, that way it'll look better than it does now either way
