Went to fill her up, washed her inside and outside, gave her a wax, took my friend to his girlfriend and when I came back, less than 500 m from where I live, A taxi braked hard in front of me and I couldn't stop on time.

I saw the taxi breaking a little early and had a considerable distance but it seemed that all the cars were slowly forming a line to wait for the bus to enter the station but suddenly the taxi braked hard and it was too late..

This picture is all i have now, more will follow.. In 3 hours I had to go home for Easter. :(

The write off on mine should be after I reach 5500 E.

The engine is fine, starts well, but the damage as what you see here.. I think the fan is gone as well.

It looks worse than it is. No airbag was deployed, the car starts fine. The only error I get is indicator bulb failure from the broken headlamp. Other than that, I drove the car on the platform and out of it. Would have driven it all the way but the radiator is broken.

The car I crashed into is a Dacia Logan taxi, and because his resistance reinforcements are way up, instead of going bumber to bumber we went his bumper to my hood and headlights.

Really sorry :( If the engine mounts are intact and not bent, I mean the bars holding the engine and afterwards the alignment is ok, you should be fine, I've seen much worse here. Bad times.. the same happened to me a year ago, the opposite actually, two cars hit the car in the back, while my gf was driving but the insurance just had to replace the bar bolted on which holds the rear bumper and the tailgate.. the renault twingo and ford in the back were a write off. I hope you repair it... or at least get loads of money from the insurance. Here you can keep your car and get the cash.. so it's not that bad.. at least you'll have spares. Good luck (y)

it looks like youve escaped chassis damage, so its only cosmetic, which means you should be back on the road (y)

it looks, like you said, like the impact was high up and away from the chassis leg.
i predict:
new front plastic panel
new bumper
new wing
new bonnet
new headlight
new grill
possibly bent wing fletch...
and some paint

wont be cheap, but i reckon its fixable....

Yes, the engine is fine, check it out: :p

I will be meeting with the ensurance representative on Wednesday. We'll set the damage then.

The engine mounts are perfectly intact.

Autoitalia said it's gonna be around 1500 E. It shouldn't be a write off at all, I have a 5500 E limit.

Anyway, I just feel like posting here to set my mind free of the crash so please bare with me on this one. :)

Cheers for all your posts.

Sorry to hear the bad news, I would be distraught if anything happened to mine that severe! Fingers crossed for the insurance assessors verdict.

It's unfortunate to hear. In the UK that would be a write off with the value of Stilos here :(

About £3500+ damage if being repaired by a UK insurane company.

I hope she's gets repaired over your side of the water though. Like others have said I'd be gutted if it were mine.

What sort of speed were you doing out of interest?

The impact was only at around 20 km/h.

The bad thing is that the cab I hit had it's reinforcements up, and because of that, his strong point was exactly on my bonnet. I was doing around 35 km/h and managed to brake to 20 but that was it. He cut me off and then realized he had to brake because the bus was going into the station. I was already slowing down but didn't help because I was too close when he entered my lane. Moreover, the tarmac wasn't clean. It had some kind of sand from somewhere. Braked as hard as I could, but didn't do the trick..

You wouldn't tell that much damage came from hitting this car, would you?

Cars are expensive in Romania, and because of this, they are heavily insured. Mine has a value of 5500 E to be a write off, I'm pretty sure this is fixable with around 2000E, considering the engine and main strength components are fine.

I am sorry about the accident! At least is only the car damage but you are ok!

To make you forget the crash and thing something more "interesting", have you thought to replace the bumper with a "Schumacher" one, replace the headlamps with the smoked Dectane ones with the LED DRLs and finally put a badgeless grill??? :D

And yes, the 3door bumper can be fitted to 5door Stilo. It has been done in Greece. You just have to check if the Dectane headlamps (which are made for the 3door) will fit your "hybrid" front end! :)

And if you don't believe it, then see it!!!! (y)

hi. hope your ok. i watched your video. did you know you have a bulb out. :) sorry british humour. .
you say your air bags did not deploy. was that because you weren't going fast enough or because you had had a fault. hope you get it sorted :slayer:

Hi man thanks for your post. :)

The airbags only deploy in medium to severe crashes. This was too small of a crash to trigger the sensor. I didn't even feel I had stopped suddenly, I just saw the bonnet going up and that was it. :) Oh yes, and bip bip bip, left front signal light failure. :p

Good news! The car is getting fixed :)

Took 1 month of settling with the insurance company but I just received confirmation that IT IS GETTING FIXED :)

The total cost of the repair is 17900 RON or 3821.52 £.

The repairs include everything missing from the car in the attachment:

I've also attached a better picture of the accident to see the damage.

I'm very happy she's getting fixed, it was an almost write off, very very close, I even went over about 200 £ but the insurance inspector said the actual parts will cost less than what was initially estimated so we're good to go.

Wish me luck with the repairs, will keep you guys posted :)
