Hi all. I had a very slow front end bash with my Panda Cross. It was very very slow. I thought all was ok and was driving home when i suddenly noticed a big power loss. Had a poke around. No blue smoke, no increase in temp, no warning lights just a loss of power. Then noticed where the intercooler is its a bit slack and theres oil underneath it. No a huge amount but its there. Going into the garage but where could the oil be from and if the Intercoolers gone south will this explain the power loss.

It's quite common to find a little oil in the intercooler as oil vapor from the crank case breather will often condense and collect in there

A large ammount however could be from a failing turbo hopefully bot

I experienced no turbo a few years ago with a Citroen BX. The effect was to say the least profound. That was a rapid car but without the turbo it felt like about 40BHP. Also experienced turbo pressure loss with a Renault 5 Turbo and the same effect. That was a cracked plastic pipe that opened under pressure. It was beyond the dealer to find the problem that was actually not hard to spot.

I should check the inlet pipes from the turbo to the intercooler, and also the intercooler which does live up front. It could also have been holed in a separate incident with road debris. If all else fails get the boost pressure checked multi ecu scan should be able to help.

Its certain an intercooler or pipe work or turbo leak will cause power loss on a fairly large scale.
