gutted for you, we humans think we are the master race then we realise some thing tiny and with no body or brain can wipe us all outLost an uncle this morning.
He went into hospital just before Christmas, with breathing difficulties, not covid related, but serious, and a high risk he'd not survive it. Early this week they took him off the ventilator, and reported he was doing well and expected to be going home this weekend. Yesterday he deteriorated, a covid test showed positive, and his body was not in any state to fight it. He was 93 I think, but otherwise quite active.
He was one of the first UK nuclear scientists, starting at Harwell in South Oxfordshire, but quickly moving to Winfrith in Dorset where he worked until he retired.
Being on a ventilator, I suppose he was in the same area as covid patients, so a high risk area. His immediate family had not been allowed to see him, but did get a reasonable Zoom session on Monday.
(Just when you think there's light at the end of the tunnel, it is a train coming.)
Expanding on the approach Dorset Police will be taking in the coming weeks, Chief Constable Vaughan said: “We are not going to set up roadblocks. We never have and this is not roadblock territory but we will be focusing on arterial routes, using things like automatic number plate recognition.
that's not from an official police statement that's from what the echo think he said.
Driving on the A13 and i spot a car towing a jet ski. how does that fit in with essential travel only?

Returning from a shopping trip to Swindon earlier, was caught up by a 2011 MINI. Young couple, car loaded to the roof with stuff. Camping gear, bedding, or similar. I doubt they'd just bought it in the sales.

Probably been said already but I think a very real hidden cost of this pandemic is going to be the metal well being of everyone once things settle down a bit. My wife and kids are literally going stir crazy at the moment with being holed up homeschooling and working from home.
The wife is getting out a little bit after she finishes work but it's only to go and check on her dad who recently had a stroke so not really a relaxing situation. The time of year doesn't help as it's dark by the time I get home so we can't go out for a walk. Plus we've only just moved, my mum is constantly in and out of hospital through illness so we've got the worry of that on top.
I know I'm far from the only one with issues but it's not going to be too long before people start to crack

Hi,
The health and safety of our Gumtree users is our top priority and across our site we are urging people to follow the Government’s national lockdown guidance and stay at home. Our Covid-19 safety guidelines can be found on site here.
As part of our commitment to protecting our community, health and beauty listings/ ads explicitly saying that services are still available, including mobile services will be removed. We also actively encourage anyone who comes across an inappropriate advert to report it to us immediately through the ‘Report this ad’ button.
What you need to do next:
Please review your listings immediately and ensure that you clearly state in your ad description that you are currently closed and only taking enquiries or appointments for the period after Government restrictions have been lifted.
We thank you for helping us to make Gumtree a safe place for all our users and wish you, your colleagues and families well at this time.
Thanks
Overheard at the supermarket:
"..hard work clearing the frost off the car this morning, had to get the dog to the groomer for 7:30"
wtf? Why is a dog groomer still open?
I wonder if the dog can breathe in the virus, then expel it later?
Early on in this sarscov19 saga scientists said that the virus can survive on animal coats and be transmitted in that way!Brilliant

That's given me an idea.
I've not had a haircut in weeks as the local barbers are all closed.
(well the ones that cut hair, the ones that are fronts for dealers seem to be still open)
I'm looking like a Afgan Hound perhaps they might book me in?
