Tuning Cold Air Feed's

hey all

I have run my car without that rubber seal strip for a couple of years now.

and as my k&N and sparco strut brace dont get along and the k&N fell off - i then had to raise the K&N 3cm on 80mm silicone, The bonnet did close - but the filter got knocked off when driving, so I have run with washers under the bonnet hinges for about a year. :)

The engine has read on the gauge as running very cold over the winter - probably bad for the engine but i want a 1242+ anyway :) It only ever heated up to normal in traffic jams. Now the weathers warmed up it runs at normal temp.

Id say if your gonna do it - do it in summer

People have told me it doesnt work, lifting the bonnet - Its been running under temp, so it must work! I think its cos negative pressure is caused by the air flowing over the gap, sucks out the hot air underneith, i think...

Would be good to get the cinq in a wind tunnel :)

Another thing is to remove the horizontal splash guard on the bottom of the bumper to arch liner, its a pain in the arse anyway!

Also i think the sei abarths have louvres cut into the drivers wheel arch liner to aid cooling???

I have a box of loads of bits i didnt bother putting back on my car - like the exhaust heat collector and heat shield... (maybe i should put that back?)

Purf was it hard to align the bonnet after you put the raiser's onto it?

How much is a re-map anyhow i wish there was a chip availible for the MPI

Next thing im thinking of is new "Performance" Springs and shocks fed up of it rolling around :D

i wouldnt think the bonnet was hard to align, as the hindges are moved not the bonnet. undo one side lift them up and bolt it down, then repeat on the other side, cant move that much as one is always bolted. S: :p

Yeah its not hard at all - It can be useful to have someone lend a hand if it needs holding while the bolts are tightened. A little tip - I used abou 8 stainless washers under the hinges. The washers are hard to keep together so i used a bit of tape to hold them - instead of washers going everywhere!

Be careful with your new paint :)

First put the washers under the hinges - then adjust the bolts that go into the bonnet frame to get the position and shut right.

Youl could study mine if i see you around, to see what the result is like. Its not perfect though

"Isn't that to stop anything jamming the fan up or getting near the bottom pulley?"

No bunny rabbits seem to have caused any damage yet :)

I dont think water ingress into the engine is a problem. It has not been for me anyway. But if you remove the carpet/bulkhead sound deadening - your heater will not demist very well as it will pull in damp air from outside the heater area.

2002- your best bet for seats is the scrap yard, £40 should get you a nice pair. They are good - im not sure in sei sporting seats are the same construction - in terms of side bolsters though???

dunno what i did there - with the php code thingy

in the summer i run with no arch liners at all just to help clear the heat. next thing is im looking for either a tr7 bonnet louvre or a set of louvres from a lancia delta
