aye all the hot air will escape right to the fan for the interior, so no cold air flow in the summer i beleive, unless you leave that bit and cut the sides out haha

Hmm i really doubt that would happen.

In ma cinq, i run without all the fire wall capets. And i don't get smelly engine fumes or anything. Even at idle. And still have cold air :).

But i haven't removed the long rubber strip yet, will give that a go :D. But this isn't my everyday car so.

aye it might not happen, but your interior fan sucks the air in from the bottom of the windscreen does it not??? if that air was coming from under the bonnet through the rubber seal it would be alot hotter, definatly in traffic. i dont mean through the sound deadening or anything, just were it gets sucked in.

i could be wrong but the way i look at it that has to make sense haha.

The point am making is that with the sound deadening out, if the heater matrxi were to suck in hot air it would be more obvious compared to removing just the rubber strip, but I don't experience the smelly fumes/hot air as people suggested.

You are correct at idle it sucks air just below the window but when you are traveling at speed, is the fan strong enough to suck in the hot air tho :p?

Like turn your fan off when driving, air still comes through.

anotherway of doing this is to space the bonnet up on the hinges by say 5mm so undo your bonnet hinges put 5mm of washers in then retighten and repeat for the other hinge saves cutting and sourcing a new seal!

this is what i was thinking and yes it does look a little on the stupid side but the main use for it when you turbo the engine and have problems keeping engine bay cool (my friend had this prob on a fiesta zetec turbo) it does work and is what i am planning if i have cooling problems

if its turbo's or supered then yeh mabee, but id still prefere to put some small vents in the bonnet at the back than lift it up. just my styling i suppose. only seen a few with it on and really didnt like the look, but things grow on you i suppose and if its the only way then its the only way.
