Just pulling out of mates drive way, nicely up the road when bang and foot nearly goes through the floor!

Clutch cable gone and so near to xmas - out goes nearly £50 quid of budget for presents so she's having half a clutch as a present!

Is that about right for a clutch cable and labour?

Also think the clutch is almost out! How much for the clutch and ruff price for labour, anyone? :bang:

ooo i notice your from wrexham.....hi :D

i always carry spare clutch cables, i have 3 in my car at the mo, i have snapped many a one on my sei

£50 isnt that bad, its £15 a cable plus labour which could usually takes between 1-2 hours

i think a clutch is about £80 maybe a bit more and labour i would expect anything upto a couple of hours

my clutch is knackered too but i am too stubborn to change it

EDIT - this link is also good https://www.fiatforum.com/showthread.php?t=1820

Yeah mate, from wxm.

Three cables, christ i need just the one thank god.

Is it worth attempting to do the clutch myself using the good old haines manual or best for garage to complete?

Just gutted as near to xmas!

Also, don't suppose you now of anyone who's after a cinq sporting?
Trying to sell it now but can wait till after xmas. After something newer.

it could be worth attempting, but if you cant do it the car is stuck on the drive, ive never attempted changing the clutch but im guessing with a haynes and a trusty mate, you should be able to do it

any garage should be able to replace a clutch for you though

you could post your car in the classifieds section of this forum

Nah, no way!

Looked at it, and just thought S**T, where do i start.

Looked at it closely and seemed ok till it seen it went to somewhere else and just thought don't need the hassle!

Not clever enough anyway! lol

clutch cable could be changed within an hour, just need the right tools and small hands

although the last time i tried to change the clutch cable (un-breakable one) it took me 3 hours then i gave up

Do you know of a mechanic in wxm thats pretty cheap?

theres loads of ones to choose from, i normally take mine upto southsea, although he doesnt seem keen to change my clutch  or theres a fiat specialist up in tanyfron

right easy honestly. did mine at side of road. you only need a 10mm socket and 17mm spanner. and a phillips screwdriver to take cover off in passender side footwell. I've done 3 now. make sure you tighten it up properly though.

Right, just had car back after new clutch cable.

Seems ok and goes into gear better than before. Fingers crossed.

Only came to £36 parts and labour so pretty happy for now till next thing goes!

Might attempt to do it myself next time! (y)

yeah thats well cheap. if it was that cheap i'd let someone else do it lol
