I've got one on order - hopefully it will arrive before the MOT is due.

When I get the steering wheel off, so it goes back straight, I'll lock the steering with the key and note how the wheel was set.

But - does the clock spring have to be centered or does it have to be fitted at full left or full right steering lock. I don't want to fit it wrong and break the cable spring inside.

Can any one help. Thanks in advance.

Front wheels parallel, wheel centred.

New clockspring will have a red locking tab to hold it in the right position (twist it and break it off when fitting steering wheel).

Mine will be a used clockspring (money back if no worky), but sounds like its gonna be a no fitty (.
Is there a way to correctly lock the clockspring before its fitted/removed?

Hi, I take this is because your airbag light is on! if so fix it after mot, airbag is not part of the test car will not fail.(y)

It all depends on how it was taken off the donor car. Playing around with some clocksprings from a few carshed cars, the black piece in the centre stops the whole thing moving un-necessarly. Fiat clocksprings generally rotate about 4 full rotations as a rough guide, Ill dig one up and find the exact rotations in the morning if that helps :)

Hi M20 that would be great.

The airbag light is on, but the main issue is the horn not working. Ive fitted a new horn which works with a test link from the battery. But there is nothing from the horn push or if I link the connector under the airbag. The relay tests out ok but I wasn't able to confirm its clicking (or not) when fitted to the car - I was working alone.
A day later I was putting on the Krooklock and the horn went off so I'm now fairly sure its the clockspring.

For what it cost I'm fitting a new (used) clockspring to at least rule that out of the question. I dont want to fit it wrong and break it the first time I use full lock.

Ok not strictly morning but...

I just measured out the clockspring from my TD100 (not crashed) It has 6 turns lock to lock (you can go more but you will break it) Holding the centre and turning the piece that faces you to the right tightens the ribbon cable inside, turning to the left loosens it. Turn fully to the right untill it begins to get tight then work from there adjusting to your situation. Hope this helped :)
