you only get discount off your first year for pass pluss normally. if you get an s fit an aftermarket tempature gauge because they havent got one,

I would like to find out about this one:

CINQUECENTO S P reg. 47000 miles. Good tyres. New seat covers. 10 months MoT. Tax til May. Group 1 insurance. Low tax. £400.

Problem is it's 15 miles away, mum says; I am too ill to take you, you're back to uni soon and your dad is at a conference. Damn! I know it's so soon from when I go back to Uni but....aghhh! I would ask my grandpa but I don't want to stress him out driving to Derby.

Looks like I will have to wait until Easter to look now which is when I go to Paris so even less likely.....! My mum said "if you had thought about this last week we could have gone and looked at it" :(

She drives a 1.8 laguna and both my parents are insured with SAGA.....£800 for me to be put on for 10 months (until Oct). SAGA don't like young drivers on their policies! We have a 1.9 turbo diesel scenic on the drive too (Dad went on the train) which too is a similar price. They won't let us just pay a month either....have to pay full amount then claim it back a month later aslong as I haven't made a claim.

I don't think it's going to happen now, Easter it is, I will have to come back to Nottm prepared!

You have NO friends then?

Neither do Direct Line. My insurance is about £25 a month fully comp. Wanted to put a friend on to teach him to drive (he is 18) and the price... £195 per month WHAT!!!!!

I just considered the friends idea, a few friends do drive and owe me thousands of favours and would help me out within a second, asked mum "i'm going to get X to take me ok?"

Then she kind of put a downer on it:

"So you're going to buy a car on your own without your dad looking at it or a chance to drive it on your own?"

"good point" lol

Dad is back tomorrow afternoon but he has to take me shopping them I am off to Manc sunday morning.

my parents are both insured with direct line. when my sis was 17, my dad put her on my mums insurance for £20 a year. when i was 17, it cost £200 a year extra. maybe they just dont like young guys???

I see your point.

Tell your mum

"OK, I will have to go and buy a motorbike instead"

She should take you there straight away then! :)

What car was it? Mine is a 2.0 20v Fiat Marea which may have something to do with it....

1100 H plate Rover Metro.

For 1 of my friends 18th birthday present, his dad insured him on his BMW 325i - that was only £50 extra per month tho

OK, that was five years ago...? Insurance has got a lot meaner on young people since then you know. I taught another friend to drive 6 years ago and it only cost £5 extra a month.

ooo when you need a new cambelt ots gonna cost more than pauls new car

Had a quote of £389, close I agree. But what I spend in parts I make up for in Insurance ;) Saying that I have just spent £200 on tyres and will need to spend the same again on an exhaust soon... :(

i put my ex on my insurance last year when i was 21 so i could teach her to drive and that was £60, £40 of which was insurance tax. when we split up, i took her off at renewal time and it didnt reduce the policy at all
