cheap dash cam?

Currently reading:
cheap dash cam?

Its a nokia battery, it will cost me a quid fity ish to replace.
But it may not be the battery, that charges OK from my pc.

Yet the charger lead also charges my sat nav.

But yes I'll be opening it up soon, no point saying owt to the supplier - they are in hongykongy..
 
I know what you mean about HK.
In a dispute with PP atm. Ordered a cam, nothing came. Seller gave me a number which HK post say delivered but nothing on the RM site.
Opened a dispute & PP were just on the cusp of deciding when the seller suddenly realises they gave me the wrong number.
Came up with another number which shows delivery Sat 27th Oct.
So PP have just decided in seller's favour - how bloody convenient is that?
So I got snotty with PP & gave them a piece of my mind.
HK tat generally takes 7 - 10 days, this 'delivery' took just over 6 weeks Hmmm.
I think they've sold something to another ebayer in my area and given PP that number OR posted a letter to a nearby address & sent it recorded.

I told PP, why would I try to scam them for £34 when my last cam was £50 and I have recently bought a few items costing over £100. Last few months I must have spent close to £300 on stuff from HK so I could have scammed any one of them.
PP say they will re-examine my case.

They had better or I'm looking for an alternative.
 
My chinese camera also had this "dead quick" sinorio

Changed battery (nokia one)
Worked for a few days
then went flat again
Turns out the charger had also died

I know it was charger as i used my Tomtom in the USB port and it worked a treat

So ensure the charger is giving volts and amps if possible

Cheap replacements but may have to wait for Super snail delivery

Bit busy at the mo but as I am a PCB engineer have all the facilities I need to be able to strip it down, dissect, determine and fix it. Well - apart from time to do it lol
 
Its a BL-5C.

That is whats in mine.

And I know whats the problem with mine, the charger is goosed - 5v but not enough current because the battery is goosed so its taking too much current.
It has goosed the supplied charger and another from Poundland.

I have it charging on a better charger at the mo and will see how it is tomorrow.

I'll use the long lead from the supplied charger with a better one that can output more than 500ma or get another battery or something.
 
By the way, has anyone noticed that using the cam Dom linked to, the screen looks best when viewed from the side?

I have mine just under the rear view mirror and if I turn the screen to the drivers side it does not look as good as when its facing to the rear.

I just lost my battery but the charger/system works fine. :)

I have it wired into the car so only need to remove it if I need to get footage from it or anything.

I think my above comment on cheap chinise crap is correct.

The PSU needs replacing, as does the battery as its swollen showing its been overheated - most likely because its been duff all along (or the charger was crap too).
 
Got a new battery yesterday, put it in today - seemed fine on the way to work.

Get in this evening and its all white & fuzzy, flat battery.

I wonder if the charging circuit in it is boogered.

While I like the idea, this one seems to be rubbish.

Oh, it was a cold day last time too.

My battery was blamed and replaced
New battery - seemed fine for a day if that
before - Flat battery warning...

Yup the battery and charger both killed each other :(

Sad, sad news, I knew Jay through my son's involvement with the team.
However, big investigation going on to find out who was at fault.

If dashcams were made compulsory in ALL vehicles, you wouldn't need to waste so much police time on investigations.
As the cam saves footage automatically, police would have two viewpoints of evidence at the scene. Theoretically, as all speeds, positions etc can be viewed and calculated, the scene could be tidied up immediately.

If dashcams were fitted, I wonder if this crash would ever have happened as all parties would have been driving more sensibly (OK, not counting heart attack, blowout etc - but knowing that stretch of road, my money is on speeding, possibly a dangerous overtake).

(note the other vehicle involved - fiat punto.)
 
I think I might want to upgrade to a better cam, possibly one that records front and back.

Indeed, at only £43 why aren't these things compulsory :confused: some will spend that on a night out.

The thing is, in these early days when not many cars have cams, insurance should be offering incentives on policies for drivers who install these.

Insurance and police should offer rewards to people who come forward with video evidence - "thanks for your video showing xxx driving whilst on the mobile, here's £50 reward" (which they can add onto the driver's fine).
The more people realise they could be filmed doing stupid stuff (more likely to be caught), the more the muppets will calm down?

Sounds good, i asked Admiral when i was renewing and they turned around and said "no one has ever asked us this but sounds like a good idea in the event of an accident"
