cheap dash cam?

cheap dash cam?

The Aldi cam says it's 1080p but, by all accounts, that hardware can't do better than 720p - so the 1080p is extrapolated.

Koonlung & innovv do dual cams with remote lenses, one is the K1, the other is the K1S (not sure who does what). Apparently the footage is passable.

For £30, you can't expect the same quality and performance as one costing £150. But if ALDI achieve what they usually do with their specials, it'll be about the best you can get for the price. So expect the performance of a £50 unit for your £30.

Same here, but after some time subscribing to this thread, I'm still confused. Currently saving me money by not buying any dashcam.

Until the time comes when some moron runs you off the road then lies to their insurance.

I've had quite a few where the other party get their report in within the hour & we've had a letter the next day putting the blame on me. Of course, my version is different - so without the cam, they love to go 50:50

With the footage, every prang has fell on the other party.

Took 10 months to resolve even with an independent witness coming forward AND camera footage.

Soon as showed before the roundabout again and i could see the road markings - its 100% clear he's a dick and you possibly shudda rammed him a wee bit harder...

I guess its your work bus - so you did naturally brake, which you have todo really

Thank god for the dash camera.....

I think a part of the delay is the fact that it's a commercial policy, they probably have hundreds of claims to deal with - hence why the idiots pick on commercial vehicles, assuming everyone rolls over & there'll be a quick payout?
Another factor in the delay might just be our ins asking his ins to clarify matters - our witness says... this seems to tally with what our driver says, HOWEVER, your driver's story is worlds apart.
i don't know how ins companies work these things. Did they tell the other ins that we have a witness AND video footage?
Do they play the other ins & simply say we have our driver plus a witness giving a different version of events, please ask your driver to clarify... That's still not what we've been told...please ask your driver again...
OR, do they come straight out with all the facts? - which then begs the question about why things dragged on.

Although this prang was passed on to our insurance, the repairs to my bus were very basic, enough to get the thing through an MOT - NS light assembly plus indicator light was replaced, with this all out, the bodywork was simply knocked back into place, as was the bumper - so it all looked like a scrunched up sheet of paper that someone smooths out by hand. We couldn't afford to have the bus off the road for ages - although I'm sure a proper repair could've been done quickly, after all, new wing & bumper would be bolted on, as would a new undershield for the wing.
Although I can't see why we couldn't hire a bus - at their expense.

I can confirm that this wouldn't have helped, insurers won't always be able to go direct to their insured driver, having to go through fleet managers etc, can take weeks, then nothing back so they chase and thats another number of weeks, and before you know it its been 3 months just for 1 question to be answered :(

I got fed up with waiting so emailled the insurance directly - and discovered that I could report future prangs directly on their website.
Even after sending emails, they still took their sweet time getting back to me.
on the plus side, their online reporting procedure was far, far less painful than the half dozen pages of daft questions we had in the office, PLUS I could add links to the clips on YT which i had set to 'unlisted' - I knew they saw them because the view count went up.

So thinking again of getting one of these, how much further have these come in the last year or so? Any reccomendations?

Resolitions come up

Nextbase - seems to be the "popular" "high street" version availible

still loads of 1080p claimed camera's that aint

But i do think i should get one for my work vehicle....
