General Changing the passenger side headlight bulb

General Changing the passenger side headlight bulb

Not sure what all the fuss is about. I've changed all the bulbs several times on my 1.4 (including the indicators, which are the most inaccessible) and although you get scratched hands there is no need to take the battery tray out, get the bumper off or remove the wheel arch liner. I agree things could be made a lot easier and the plastic covers on the rear of the light units are a pain to re-fit but there is no need to give it to a garage.

Just to add my experience so far as I am sure this is a current issue, even though this is an old thread.

I noticed last night my passengers side headlight had gone out.

I rung up my local FIAT dealership who quoted me £95.30, which I thought was a wee bit steep. I then drove down to Halfords who on inspection said they couldnt do it as they're not allowed to take out the battery case, or bumper.

I have just spoken to KwikFit who said they could do it for the cost of the bulb £16.70. I mentioned it's a FIAT Stilo and access to the headlight is naff to say the least and he said you may have to leave it with us for a few minutes but we can do it for the price of the bulb.

I will update when I am back from KwikFit!

It took KwikFit just under an hour. Charging me £16.70 for the bulb. The guy went in through the bonnet and just moved the battery.

The only car they charge labour for a bulb change is a Fiat 500 as there is no other way than take the bumper off.

Wow, that sounds almost too good to be true, and clearly at that price they are the place to go to for the work :).

Unfortunately my experience of KwikFit is that they are also liable to give you a long list of work which they claim urgently needs doing, as the car is potentially unsafe .
