Can someone explain this...?

So I go to my favourite Korean BBQ restaurant tonight as it's the Pork Buffet (all you can cook for £5).

They are full, so I'm told to wait outside.

I do for about 30 minutes.

Finally they call me and as I sit down to the table they say "Oh sorry, buffet is for 2 people or more - you can't eat here"

WTF....

I can't think of any reason why there should need to be 2 of me, it's not like I will eat less if I'm sharing it ... it's an all you can eat buffet for christ's sake!!

Why on earth should that be the case?

And to make me wait 30 mins .... grrr

tables? they want 2 or more to generate other income from higher margin items like booze
if you are at the table alone,you kill their opportunity to upsell to at least 2 customers

Ah I forgot to add - they would let me eat non buffet food, but not the buffet itself.

I was thinking that as I walked away - but I was more pissed they had made me wait out in the hot then refuse me on entry.

It does taste great though, so I will go back next time with some chums

It was cold last week, I think it dropped to about 18.

Now back to full on humidity though - it's going to be worse in Taipei I think, although again they've been having dodgy weather recently too.

because we live in britain and have crap weather so when a ray of sun appears we have to savour it

the ala carte items are costed and priced with profit
on a buffet,you have no control
you hope the people either eat >price of the buffet or you can upsell other stuff to generate income

when 2 males are drinking one always increases drinking rate to match the other

in the old days you would go in a cafe an share tables with strangers, and be social. not sure when it changed but is strange how it did

well theres more chance of a couple/friends generating more
theres no guarantee they will get someone to fill that other seat etc
on a quiet day they may take the singles,but with a 30 minute wait they are busy enough to target a certain client
