Hi,
I bought a second hand fiat brava 1.4sx.
The previous owner told me that he has had a
cambelt change done , but had no bills etc. to
prove it.
How can I find out if the job has been done on it ?

Cambelt

You should be able to see the belt, there maybe a cover over (never seen the 1.4 engine), if it has not been changed it will look worn, if it is new you should hardly be able to see any wear - most belts have white writing on them which should still be clearly visible. If you are unsure your probably better off getting it changed, if it lets go it can be costly. Don't take it to a dealer though, i just had a shock after they quoted me £250 for the 24K service on my HGT.

the 1.4 does have a cover over it. As for it looking worn, I have just replaced my cambelt at 36k miles and you cannot tell. Dont take the risk and change it, it is an easy job (see my notes under ##waterleak##) and will cost you £20 (cheaper than a new engine)

You think 250 is bad!

As you have a HGT, wail till you get a quote for having your cam belt changed!!

You might want to sit down first though!
