mine was in the garage today- was called at 4pm to say fixed...

picking up in the morning!

is it really fixed?

not hugely optimistic!

will report back tomorrow!

Before you took it in, did they tell you they've got something new to try, or did you take it in because you've been hassling them and they took it to look at it again?

the day they had it from their recall i got it back and informed them str8 away it hadnt worked-

booked it back in there and then for yesterday when i could get a courtesy car-

i imagine they went back thru their routine- but no miles put on car this time...so im not sure- tech not there to speak too.

i picked up this morning, car was VERY cold...reversed out of space...NO LIGHTS!

got in car this evening...at work all day..car cold...reversed...NO LIGHTS...

car feels quicker...smoother....we will see....

so..still no recall for anyone else?

Not for us yet. In fact since you had yours in for the "recall", we've been called by our tech to tell us there are no updates.

We're crossing our fingers for your latest "fix"...

i believe the service receptionists words were 'we have done it properly this time'

NEWSFLASH

they did not. fiat CS will now have to pick this up for me. Its ridiculous.

Still not fixed then?

2 days of no lights....

reversed off drive this morning.....there u go...they were back!

back to the old routine!

would seriously start thinking of rejecting it soon-

is there power in all of us s/s owners on here grouping together to lobby fiat?

to start of with had you had the software update done (if required) which was a recall from memory?

now a few points; the stop/start will not work if seatbelt is not on, door not shut, reverse gear
engaged, cold engine, wipers on at full speed, heated rear window on, air-con temperature, low battery charge and first period of use...any of these can cause the warning light to come on.

i had the update last time- the garage were dealing directly with fiat tech- this visit to the garage was to review that work as was no better
however i must correct you- in the above situations the display will read 'stop start is unavailable'- The s/s warning lights are absolutley not supposed to show.
the general 'fault' light is not supposed to show

unfortunately the s/s goes completely unavailable at some trigger points, warning light ons, non functioning which is not normal. The only way to reset this is to restart the engine, which resets the system.

if the system is unavailable due to it being outside of the specific parameters set you will get a helpful message in the display in the speedo saying' stop start unavailable'

The fault occurs as the s/s warning light and the general exclamation warning light comes on. my trigger is reverse when cold. if i did not restart car system is not functional till next time car is restarted.
This is most definately not normal operation of system. Fiat acknowledged.
i know there is a feeling that some of this is due to owner lack of knowledge of system. This is entirely not the case. this is a fault.

I was merley pointing out situations where s/s is unavailable;)

Suppose I could read the whole thread but........

is it the longest ever on here???????????????????????
is there another subject/fault/ issue that has created so much response?

I can also confirm, the issue is not a lack of knowledge about how s'n's functions. It's about "all" s'n's 500's showing a set of lights on the dashboard, that, according to the manual supplied, mean that the car is faulty, and should be taken to a garage for fixing. The issue also usually prevents the s'n's part of "all" s'n's cars from working, making them as much an s'n's as a Pop.

i meant the IBS?

I think it shows the "epic-ness" of the thread when I'm having to quote myself from page 2.

Once fitted, the IBS monitors the battery condition (voltage capacity, drop, etc) over the next 5 starts with a gap of at least 8 hours between them to determine the battery's ability to perform the repeated stop/start operations. If it's starting from a weak first-charge, you'll have system problems.

Right, this applies to all of you S/S owners, contact your Dealers and tell them you're still having problems. Book it in again, speak to the DET and show them how the fault occurs (if it only happens from cold, then arrange to drop it off the night before and return the next day in your courtesy car to demo the fault).

The DET should then open a case with Fiat Technical and if necessary a Field Engineer will be sent out to assist in tracing the issue. Don't expect the car back the next day- if it's an intermittant issue like it appears to be, it'll be wise for them to perform repeated tests over a number of days before being satisfied and returning the car to you. ;)

JimR123- I'm glad you said "all" in that way as it shows that the issue isn't a fundamental flaw affecting every S/S as (as T has said regarding his customer's) there are cars out there without this issue. No offence, but the poll is slightly flawed as most visitors to the Forum are people with a fault/complaint. There are few threads in the Technical sections in which people go out of their way to praise their car and how well it works, even though those cars do exist. :)
