Technical Bt Ultimate Or Shell Optimax???

I've got a ....................................

list of items to check regarding fuel economy, FIATTECH emailed me some advice, they'll be checking it over on my two year service, will update you then.

Listen guys, I don't drive like a Boy Race, my car is for Cruisin, my bike is for Speedin!

Hi guy's. I've tried all different types of fuel over the years & never really noticed any difference in engine pickup or performance so I personally tend to put in whatever's cheapest( usually esso at the moment). If TC's fuel economy is getting worse it could just mean he's due for a service.

Oi Squeeloboy.....................................

I tried an experiment, didn't drive the car for a week, but the Mrs did, she is very sensible and I checked the MPG.................................26, so it's not my bloody driving!

No offence twincamms, but using names will only get you reprimanded! You might be a moderator yourself, but its no reason!

Why can't you accept that there is either A. a problem with your car, or B. its down to your driving style?

None of the other 1.6 owners moan about 26mpg!

I'm just remembering back in the dim and distant past when I had an Escort (don't get upset this was a MK1 1100 estate :yuck: ). It was very sensitive to spark plug gap. You could literally tell when the gaps had opened up too wide as the fuel economy fell through the floor. Just an idea!

Air filter not blocked? Problems with the Lambda sensor on the cat? I know fuel injection is supposed to be the savior of mankind but hey who knows. I agree with you not all poor fuel performance is down to a lead foot. It sounds as if there is a problem somewhere as you are the only one suffering.

So true, the bottom part I mean, i really dont know anyone in a 1.6 either here or with the Stilo drivers I know here with a 1.6 who get that kind of economy... there can be no debate, it is YOUR car, not the car in general. Ok, the 1.6 is thirsty compared to the average, but not that bad. I just did a full tank with an mpg of 36.3. Not too bad. I average half tanks at 35-36. That is mixture of country/motorway and rush hour city driving. I drive big miles and quite hard.
