Hi all. Got into the Tipo this morning (2019 1.4 easy plus) to an almighty bang! a cursory look showed nothing obvious but the drive to work was accompanied by a metallic jangling when going over bumps. On arriving at work I turned to full lock for a better view, and withdrew the bottom coil from the spring! clean snap, no sign of rusting on the broken face. Unexpected for a 23k mile car. Anyone else had a spring failure? I would rather shoot myself in the face than buy a replacement from my main dealer, so any recommendations for purchasing a new one gladly received.
Parts score so far this year is 1x instrument cluster, 2x droplinks, 1x tear silencer and a battery.

Probably bad luck. My two broken springs were at over 100K miles. Tey alfa shop, shop4parts and personally I wouldnt rule out KYB who have a good on line catalogue. These days the cratered roads are a challenge for any spring.

Seems to be a weak point on the Tipo

Unfortunately the issue is no after market springs exists to my knowledge

So will have to come from fiat

Shop 4 parts can order then in for you but would still be from fiat

KYB have an enormous list. Still did springs for the 23 year old Leon recently. S4P still probably cheaper. Have you tried eBay.IT You may need a new log on but worth a try.
Several people have looked at different suppliers and found nothing
Perhaps it's has changed in the last few months?
But up to last year definitely no suppliers found by anybody

Just rechecked kyb
No spring options just rear shocks and shock mountings

Thats a bum. I would look at getting a pair made If you have one to use as a pattern and for specs

Sourced my set of springs within 2 weeks for my Fiat Tipo Lounge 1.6d Estate from Autodoc Germany for a very sensible price last month . No issue

Not fitted the Eibachs. With the springs potentially being an Achilles heal I purchased them just in case thinking they were standard. Sadly it looks like a bought the wrong part 😔

I have had 4 springs go so far, Cant believe that someone doesnt produce an alternative to the Fiat original. Fiat make decent cars but have dismal after sales support in UK
To be fair can't blame fiat for no after market supplier's wanting to make them

If I had moneys to waste I'd buy a new spring then get a spring maker to make me a pair
Then share there details on here hopefully get them makings some for others

Luckily I only lost 1/2 coil off the bottom. Drives fine so if nothing else materialises and the mot man doesn't notice next year, it can stay as is, lol.
If a 2nd hand one turns up, so much the better.
I'll say it again, this is my last Fiat. not because the cars are bad but the parts supply and customer service is abysmal. Also, living in a very hilly area, hybrid is not of much use.

I've got the same issue with a snapped driver side spring (2018 1.4 easy 5 door). I've spent a lot of time trying to find a replacement (as it seems everyone has!) and also only came across the Eibach alternatives. But, I don't really want to lower my car (we live in the mountains of Italy so bumpy roads are standard).

However, I have found a set of springs for a 1.6 multiet station wagon. It's been pretty difficult to find the actual part numbers but I know the part number for my vehicle. Using the Einbach part numbers to compare there are two different part numbers, and the only difference I can see are the Eibach springs for my car have a wire diamater of 12.2 but for the 1.6 multijet station wagon the wire diamter is 12.8. The length of both springs is 273mm. Of course, this is comparing the Eibach springs and not the actual Fiat springs.

The Fiat dealer has been reluctant to give me any info other than the Fiat price for the spring €212 (without labour). Although, their quote did finally give me the actual part number for the spring for my car (52097409).

Anyone got any thoughts on just using the 1.6 multijet station wagon ones? For context, the second hand springs are from a 2020 vehicle and the guy only wants €20 for the set of 4...

Did you check shop4parts? @AshT https://parts4sale.co.uk/fiat-tipo-front-coil-spring-52097409/

And don't forget we FF members may get a discount if you check this forum first post https://www.fiatforum.com/forums/member-offers.143/
Thanks - I hadn’t seen that the part was available on that site but the price is the same as a UK Fiat dealer anyway. I’m also based in Italy so there would be customs charges…

I had a look at the member offers but I could only see three posts starting from yesterday so I guess it’s new?

The mjet springs will almost certainly be harder and possibly different size to the 1.4 ones
Yeah that’s my worry… not so bothered about a slightly harder ride but if the length is different then it probably wouldn’t fit. I’ve bought the tensioners to remove and replace the spring as I’ll be fitting it myself.
