nice work getting it to pop out like that! i've blown the CV joints to bits on my cinq and not managed to drop the shaft like that, even with the daft angle they run at cos of how low the car is.

there must be a lot of play in somewhere. is the suspension all sound on that wheel, top mounts, lower bushes etc. it should not physically move far enough for that to happen!

im gonna brave the cold and fog today to get under it and have a gander. my dads away till this afternoon so im gonna have to try my hardest to figure it all out myself. not that hes got a clue about front wheel drive cars.. he drives a bmw!

right.. its been about 5 hours off and on.. and its done

BUT!!!

i havent checked if it drives yet.. i needed to have a shower cos i felt like crap after lying on a muddy floor for bleedin ages!

it was more than just unbolt it from the suspension, had to unbolt from the wishbone and everything else so the hub was totally free and popped it back in, got a cable tie round the boot and its all back together.

i started it up and you now CANT change gears with engine on and not pressing the clutch, which is a good sign

BUT!!! (lol)

all ive done is pop it back in.. there must be a reason it popped out in the first place, so im still gonna get it looked at by a garage still cos there might be something im missing, gearbox mount looked fine and i cant figure out how the hell it came out in the first place considering the ammount of effort it took to get the f*cker back in!!

wasnt too hard a job but does take two people and both will swear.. alot.

and now ive popped it twice.

thought we'd sorted it, but took her for a test drive.. was fine when i was crawling, but as soon as you try and accelarate to go abit faster, BOOM! f*cking went again!!

deffo a garage job, im not impressed at all

Youve obviously missed something major then. Did nothing appear to not go back together correctly?

when we was putting it back together it was fine! all slotted and fitted just like it should

Well all I can say is that there must be a good 2-3 inches of play in something for the shaft to be able to pop out. Ide personally check all of the engine mounts as if the engine would be able to rock back and forth it would be possible ( it would rock back on acceleration).

Pop the bonnet and use the throttle body thingy to rev the engine.. does the engine move alot? like REALLY move... a bit of movement is expected. Try it with the car in gear too (it wont go very far with only 1 drive shaft in as the differential will put all the power into the shaft that is the easiest to move, in this case being the one not connected to a wheel )

she was ignored for a while over xmas.. so had a gander today, turns out underneath middle engine mount is goosed.. so gonna see if i can get another one, but googling it doesnt come up with anything.. so i dunno if i can get a new mount as a new part from a parts place

got a new shaft, so once mount is fixed, can do new shaft and see if shes fixed now..

i need her to be sorted by next weekend when i go back uni.. cos candice aint big enough to take all my crap back!! and she still aint fixed either

you mean gearbox one? that is new
motor factors should do a mount, if not fiat will, get the propper bolt for it from fiat too

no.. is above that.. on the whole sticky downy bit.. i think anyway

see above that white bit that looks like a rollerblade wheel.. above that is a hole, that im sure is meant to have rubber mount in it.. the thing that goes in that hole, is meant to be held in the middle, but its like an inch out, wobbling all over gaff

went to auto supplies place that litrally 2 seconds from my house, and hes gonna order one in, gotta ring him on monday, daddy thinks between 2 of us we can get it sorted.

bought a haynes for both cars while we was there so hopefully soon i have two working cars!

maybe i mistaken and it was just the bolt that was new. its not a fiat bolt so best get the bolt from fiat as well before fitting

am i correct in thinking its one loooong pin that goes all way through all them bits and bolts at the bottom?

yeah it a long bolt but its got thread all the way from bottom to head, the one from fiat will only have a little bit of thread, not sure what the white bit is though
