First - hello everyone !!! I'm glad I was able to find this forum for us Fiat lovers

My BIG problem - Bravo 1.6 16v 2000 182A4000

Until 4 days ago, the car started on half key,and it always like that doesn't matter what kind of weather it is half key brrrmmmmm :giggle: -

The last ignition seemed to be a bit more difficult, maybe for 1-2 seconds it didn't want to start - turned the key to off - start it again without any problems maybe 1 second

I went maybe 2 kilometers away to the store - parked and left the car running - went to the trunk and the car just slowly slowly turned off like I ran out of gas.

---- it is no longer possible to turn it on even when pushed ----

I tried cables friend brought gasoline...etc nothing...

Because my neighbor is a mechanic ( does not do electronics ) he tested the car and we saw that there was no spark at the spark plugs - he gave me some 2 used boxes that make electricity for spark cables to replace - but nothing no spark.

Then I removed the all fuse and relays from 5Ah to 80Ah - under the hood - driver's side - passenger side --- cleaned all relays - all fuses are OK

Nothing has been touched around the engine except of course oil and filter, but the last time was 4 months ago

When I turn on the ignition, the fuel pump can be heard running

Unfortunately there are no good electricians near me so I would have to take the car 100 kilometers away

I know "something" about electronics

so friends, do you have any idea what it could be and what I could test ??? if it's possible to send a picture of the part you want me to try - that would make my job a lot easier

Thanks everyone in advance - any help is welcome

Hi and welcome :)

Does the rev counter move when you try and start the engine?

Are you able to plug in an OBDII reader and scan for error codes?
Hello Rmjbn1

1 - rev counter don't move when turn the key on - i'm not saying 100% but i don't think it ever move until the car starts

2 - that is the problem, there are no mechanics within 100 kilometers that has diagnostics for my car... so I bought on AliExpress 2-3 months ago but I never managed to mount and read the ECU
I will send you pictures here so you can see what I got

I bought that: 3 Pin to OBD ( the red and black wires were short, so I extended them by 50 cm to reach the battery + and - )

+ VAG KKL FT 232 RL ( LM 393 )
Everything I've tried I've never been able to read the ECU -- I also got some outdated software so maybe that was the problem??? or maybe Windovs 10 is problem ???

If the rev counter isn't moving at all then it "could" be crankshaft sensor

But without a code to support that, it could be many other things.

Playing parts lottery is never a good idea, but if diagnosing the problem is going to take a lot of time and money, I would be tempted to try a new crank sensor.

Have you tried the latest free MultiECUScan download?

Here's a list of cheap scanners known to work:

Hello rmjbn1.

Thank you very very much for trying to help me !!! I thought that more people on the Fiat forum would have some idea :)

Free MultiECUScan can't read my ECU I try 5.3 it just throws me to the home screen and asks me to pay - must be paid version :)

so I spent 1.5 days looking for a person who has the software over the internet - from 50 to 342 Euro :) :)

but one person came along and offered for 5 euros :) :) :) of course it works without problems

and you were right crankshaft sensor is dead

Parameters show 0 RPM when I try to start the engine

Yeah, me too! :) Mostly a UK site and very few Bravos left in the UK now sadly.

That error 'key code not received' makes me wonder if there's an immobiliser problem. Quite a few reports on the Bravo section:

Do you have a spare / red key you could try?

Also found this old answer:
Re: Re: imobilised

if it won't start you can put in a 5 digit code using the key and throttle to start it. have a look in your handbook.

Hello.

"key code not received"

Simultaneously appear with RPM sensor.

So in Monday we order RPM sensor is only 4 euro 😁
Today we put on car sensor and on 1/2 key Brmmm Brmmm 😉

We tested about 20 time on/off drive today 20-30km no problem
And of course no more "key code not received"
