I have bought a 08 reg 1.6 Bravo, which didn't come with its service/warranty booklet.

It has done 5000miles. The manual seems to say first service is due at 35000km.
This seems a long time to first service to me. I have seen references to annual services elsewhere, and Fiat rather vaguely said it changed at some point from a year or mileage basis, to mileage only basis...

Is anyone owning similar model able to set my mind at rest that it isn't late for its first service and I just wait to reach 35k km?

Thanks!

did you buy from garage?

(annually or 18k)

Yes, from an approved dealer.

Sorry to be dim...do you mean it should have had a service as its now over 1 year old, even though hasn't yet got to 18k?

Cheers

If its from dealer then they should supply service booklet.

servicing is mileage or time related whichever comes first.

Thanks, sounds like dealer's pulled a fast one then and I went for it. I should've checked more, but salesman claimed no service was due. I'll get back in touch with them and see what's going on

The service manual I have with mine says 35000km or 1 year , whichever comes first.
The 1.9 diesels are 30000 or 1 year which is 18k Miles instead of the 21k on the smaller engined car.

I'll get to the mileage limit on mine before the year is up , but it sounds like yours needed a service based on the age.

Could be it's not due one because they gave it one when you bought it. Hopefully they just forgot to give you the book.

Mine was 8 month old with 1700 on the clock when i bought her, but they still gave her the 1st year service.
My Mileage is not that high so 12 months later, when i took her in for the '2nd year' service and she'd still not done the mileage for the 1st service interval.

Still Oil and other components degrade with time and so needs to be changed regradless of mileage and an annual service can spot issues before they can become serious if you have a mechanic who is thorough.
