Technical boot lock problem

my boot locks ok, the light insode the boot has never worked while I have owned the car, its had a new bulb [x2, just to make sure, and tested to be ok] and one side of the circuit is getting power

recently, the "hatchback open" warning is showing

I took the lock out, squirted switch cleaner inside and fettled the contacts, didnt make any difference, one of the pins seemed very loose like it had maybe broken off within the housing

so ideally I want the warning to go, and the light to work.

it looks like it can be taken apart, but can it? anyone done so?


replacement part is p/n 55701971, is it right that it shares the same part as Alfa's, and Corsa's? as they seems to be cheaper than GP ones.

Here you go ?, I’ve noticed my mrs boot light not working anymore so I changed the bulb to no success, and then noticed the warning on the dash to say a door was open but would go out after a few mins, so I recon it’s the switch’s in the boot lock because we haven’t used the car since this lock down, so I’m guessing it’s just the switch’s that are sticking,

Common 'ish issue

Was a feature of our light blue mj..

But its EGR leak has meant the niggles are less of a priority

I fitted a brand new lock today and it’s fixed the boot light and warning on the dash, deadlocks can also now be activated, I’ll be keeping the old lock though and change the switch, i brought the new lock last year because I had issues with it and thought it was the lock but turned out to be a broken wire, so it’s come in handy,

Your right about the corsa D locks being the same part and there a lot cheaper to buy on eBay as well ?. It’s easy to damage the lock casing though trying to open it up, Brand new lock cost me about £30 from Shop4Parts though, good look with the fix

a replacement lock from an alfa or summat else has arrived for the price of a couple of pints, duly fitted and all is working as it should

it gives me the chance to take apart my old one, and if I can fix it then it will be a useful spare.

I’ve just bought some switch’s off eBay (2 for £3), only 1 needed though, Also it Might be worth putting some Dielectric grease on the electrical connector pins so they don’t corrode, I noticed one of the Earth pins on mine was corroding on the male pin

so today I have taken the old lock apart

of course the plastic tabs snapped off, but I have chemical metal just in case, to fix the casing.

the microswitch had come off the PCB completely, it feels like it still works and will solder back in to its original holes on the PCB [edit to say, a further check shows the switch should have 3 pins, one of which is gone, so it would need replacing]

but one of the connector pins, has come off and about 4mm of it has dissolved where it bends to go into the PCB, so I wont be proceeding.

its probably easy to make another pin, but theres no point really, I just cant be bothered but I am glad I opened it up to see, it will now go in the bin instead of in my shed cluttering it up.
