Panda (Classic) Betty: the early 1000CL

Introduction

See this thread for the full story of how Betty ended up in my possession....

Anyway, thanks to blinkelephant -- who was her previous owner -- and VmanC -- who has kindly agreed to adopt her on a temporary basis, and sort out her foibles... -- she will soon be on her way to a good home...!

Here she is, earlier today, leaving for Vernon's workshop... :)

I can't wait to meet her...! (y)
Well Betty is finally ready for her mot........

The mot is first thing in the morning so I had to bring her home tonight, this was her first drive on public roads since 2006! Apart a little stiffness here and there she drove very well. :)

Ooh: I've come over all emotional... -- what a beautiful looking Panda; and what a wonderful job you and your cohorts have done...! :worship:

See you tomorrow lunchtime; and good luck to the both of you, in the morning...! (y)

Thanks, Vernon.... :)

PS: I hope you've put a Limited Editions Unlimited sticker inside (at least) one of her windows? You should be very proud of what you've achieved.... (I don't suppose you do LEU tax-holders, as well, do you?!) :D

Looks fantastic! The perfect, pure Panda.

I never thanked you for saying this... -- but I think you're right; and I can't wait to see her finished, in the flesh, tomorrow. Sod the manual gearbox: this just may be the Panda of my dreams...! :D

Thank you...! (y)

I don't recommend them, as soon as you set one the whole Universe seems to conspire against you. :(

Yes, I think you are right, certainly been in similar situations at work in the past, and that was only one car, you must working like mad to get 3 done:eek:

Good luck with the MOT tomorrow, I'm sure Betty will go straight through(y) I'm really looking forward to seeing the stand on Saturday:)

Well it's four if you count my blue clx, we've chosen it over the Sisley as it needed less preparation.

Well, what an exciting day...!
  • Betty passed her first MOT in seven years.
  • Pippin hit a measured 80 mph, on the flat... (on a private road, of course...)! :D
  • Pippin met Betty (see below). :)
  • I met the lovely Mr and Mrs purple haze. (y)
  • And I drove Betty home. :woot:
Betty is a much more relaxing drive than Pippin (even though they both lack an unnecessary fifth gear); and it's nice to be able to accelerate up big hills. She also looks utterly gorgeous in the flesh (or she did before I collected half of Berkshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire...) -- and her 'new' upholstery really suits her...!

She does have a couple of minor quirks (but what woman doesn't... -- and she is not quite finished, anyway...): her principal one being that she loves going; but doesn't like being stationary... -- there's a slight problem with the idle: so I've got quite good at pulling the choke out, when there's any major manoeuvring to be done.

Apart from that, an utter delight...! A big, big, big thank you, therefore, to VmanC, Alan and Pete. :worship:

More later....

PS: Forgot to say that Vernon's 'local' -- the Baker's Arms, in Droxford -- does car tax...!

Congrats on the MOT!
Also I think 750's really revel in the cold weather, Char' can quite easily sit an indicated 80 as of recent and even clings onto 70/75 up hills :D
Maybe that engine swap isn't necessary after all ;)
