Technical Battery dead

Hi All I seem to have an issue where even after running the car atleast 2-3 times a week my battery went dead just because I didnt start it for just 1 week. Could this be a fault of the dynamo not charging the battery sufficiently? I plan on getting the charging rate checked

Any Ideas much appreciated as my Armachure has been rewound so I was told that maybe there is not enough current passing through.

Could well be that the battery has simply failed.

I have known a brand new battery fail after little more than a year, and it happens completely without warning.

There is a device which I think is called a megger tester, that will test the battery under a heavy load, and this should reveal whether this is the problem.

In the absence of a current drain when the engine is not running (eg: lights left on), the likely suspects will be the battery itself (cold weather is a particular stress on a dodgy battery and they can announce the end of their lives by failing to hold charge and going flat), the voltage regulator (these are mechanical devices and they drift out of calibration over time, but conversely, can be adjusted fairly simply) and lastly, the dynamo itself (the dynamos in these cars are easy to test and easy to repair - all parts are still available).

You may be up for a new battery but having the charging circuit tested is a good start.
