Technical Battery Dead! Can't Get Into My Car

Yet again another Issue With My (Trusty) Punto.

It seems that the battery is dead as I am unable to unlock the door using the remote central locking. I can hear clicking but not lights flashing as standard to confirm door unlocked.

The key turns in lock but no luck.

The car needs jump starting as I suspect battery dead.. But can't get in to pop the bonnet.

And you deffo can't use the key in the passenger side? When I had my battery die on me, I was still able to use the key and mechanically unlock it.

turn it the other way or try another lock, turning of lock isn't reliant on a battery

To be fair iv never used the key since I bought the car in 2009.

try new key battery or the spare key

if all else fails call your breakdown company

IF the vehicles battery is completely flat.. then it won't offer any "assistance" to turn the lock barrel..,


expect a fair bit of resistance.. but the key should still turn the barrel , and unlock the door.

When I was having my problems with my battery I found that my car would only unlock from the passenger side with the master (3 button) key the spare key didnt work!

Yes which was quite annoying lol

Only other option is Jack car up locate live output on alternator using a jump pack connect live to alternator live and negative to the chassis and use your remote to unlock the doors

Remember that the 'passenger' door is the drivers door in the country of origin. The reaults have only got a key access on the 'passenger' side
