my insurance is due for renewal on the 11th of august so i've got 2 weeks to either buy a different car or stick with the alfa.

i wanted to get a diesel 156, but i have been looking for months and not found anything suitable. i thought about an MGF but sitting in one over the weekend reminded me how crap they are and proved my GF correct- i cant even fit in one!! i still fancy an MG ZS but the interior is putting me off, and i fancy an MG ZT but finding a good one that isnt a v6 has been difficult, so i thought long and hard about it and i think the solution is an astra coupe. i dont really know why. its one of the only cars i can afford that doesnt make me shudder with disgust, so that easily puts it in my top5.

i plan to look at this one during the week:

i'm thinking the black headlights, that grill that all the chavs have, the turbo alloys, factory spoiler, nice exhaust, ICE & job done i'd be happy.

what do people think of the astra coupe?

i dont mind them, there are car which you can get parts easily for, will last a good few years yet, the engines should work out reliable etc etc :p

and if you dont need dso much space go for it :D

you mean irmscher grill?(y)
yeah chavscher thats it. just think of all the teen girls that will want to go out with me when i have that grill.

is that car used as a police car?
yeah the hatchback, but never seen an astra coupe cop car.

thats the amazing thing, they're huge! the boot is twice the size of my alfa's, and the back can easily fit 2 big blokes in. the practicality if one of the reasons i want one, my alfa cant even fit much asda shopping in.

my cousin got 4 sets of golf clubs (and bags) in his A8:eek:

he had room for more too.

sounds like from original post your looking for someone to tell you the problems with them as so far r.e boot size and the ability to pull young girls in it youve only offered gushing praise for it

get it looked at

Ooooh dear has it got silver windscreen wipers
yes, as with 97.654% of astras it has been previously owned by a retard (n)

What engine is in it?
2.2 16v. 0-60 in 8.5secs, and loads of midrange pull. wont save me any money on petrol but tbh i've pretty much given up all hope of saving money on petrol

actually i was wrong its 8.2secs, but still not exactly quick for a coupe.

(although it would comfortably beat your bravo on any road :p)

Or perhaps I'll substitute Bravo for Sedici? :chin:

yeah then you'd win, but i'd take my ball with me when i go home so is it really worth it?

what about a road where every car gets shot with a rocket launcher unless its a fiat?
no thanks, racing down dave's street is irresponsible.

I was in a met blue Astra Coupe Turbo about 6 months back, though only for 10mins on a 2mile round trip, but I have to admit I really liked it, great blue alcantara seats that were very supportive, and I thought overall interior was pretty good.

Good smooth power delivery from the engine, though the turbo does have nigh on 200bhp so you would expect it.

And as said, the boot is huge, couldn't believe how big it was as it swallowed up with ease the 4 14" alloy wheels he was collecting from us with loads of room to spare.

I think they are one of the best looking Vauxhall's in many years.

Only one I've had the chance to drive was a 1.8.
Thought the interior was a bit bland, it was a basic spec one though.
Drove nice enough but was too slow. Wouldn't say you can get 2 big blokes in the back, as I thought the headroom was shocking. The boot however was far far bigger than I expected it to be.

Would expect the 2.2 to feel much better.

Not think you would be better off with a minter of a N/A coupe for your money?

yes i do. fuel economy is significantly worse and so is insurance, but its worth it.

now that you remind me i'm gonna have a quick look on ebay.

EDIT: ebay full of old bangers :(

Weirdly noticed one a mile from my house parked on someones drive for £2750 on an 03 plate. Dont know mileage and condition etc other than a light blueish colour

£2750 sounds a bit cheap to me but its from a nice area

Can find out a bit more if interested, take photo etc

I was in car so it was only a passing glance

£2295 for X reg on 65k; but i'm thinking i'll haggle him down to £2k. it will need to be a bloody special car for him to get more than £2k off me.

03 reg for £2750 is a good deal, but its more than i'm willing to spend on a car at the moment, and i dont have the time or money to travel very far. thanks for letting me know tho (y)
