Hi All

I know there are an abundance of these threads, and yes - I have read them.

My daughter picked up a Punto Grande (2009 59) for the princely sum of £800. Then, 3 weeks in, the heater packs in.

We had a look on here, and found we needed to check wiring. On inspection of the wiring, we found that there had already been a very poor repair on the wiring from the Resistor.

The connection on the resistor was burnt out, as was the connector on the loom.

I bought a new resistor, new plug and crimped the new plug onto the wiring and installed the new resistor. Harder work than it needed to be, but done.

A week later, and its not working again. I have double checked the wiring, especially the larger Brown and Orange, and made these better, but inspecting the resistor - this has now blown (the new one).

I can see where the wiring wraps around the resistor under the green coating and this seems to have heated.

I'm going to pick up another resistor now, but could this just be a dodgy resistor, or should I be looking elsewhere too?

Does the burning out of the resistor point to the whole loom being fubar?

Appreciate the advice.

On my Punto the burning of the wires was an indication that the motor was drawing too much current. So a new motor was needed.
Taking apart the old one showed very little life left in the brushes
