cheers Ricky

Have a good place in Leith already though. Gonna repair the dings and dents and a respray from the doors back for 350 which seems very good value. They did the font end (dent and respray of the front of car, bumper side panels and bonnet) for 250.

It's a back street cash in hand affair, but great if you need minor work done.

Cheers Doc , I always park well away from everyone when shopping ,but when i return back to the car there is always cars parked left and right is this just me
Yes why is that!? I go and park right at the back of the car park with not a car in sight, have to walk further to do my shopping then come back and some enourmuuus 4 wheel drive or people carrier is right next to me even though there are spaces everywhere. Very annoying. I always check the door for dents before I get in if that happens so I could take their details although not sure how far that would get me.

the reasoning might be like this: - "if i park the car in the middle of a big empty space, it might attract attention and get vandalized. So, i better park next to another car -preferably something fancy- , then the yobs will not vandalise mine"

If its a shop carpark (not paying) I park between two spaces but near other cars. I then have a huge gap either side. I don't think it's selfish as the carpark isn't full. It just cuts down the chance of some thoughtless person smacking their door into the side of the B. I would pay for two spaces in the pay and display if I were rich.

Well I've thought about doing that but I always wonder if the car park police might clamp you or fine you? They do if you park in a mother and baby spot. Also that would just about leave enough room for someone to try and get a supermarket trolley past! If I have to park inbetween cars I always try and make sure their drivers doors are on the opposite side just to narrow the odds a little!

strangely enough, you shouldn't worry about the drivers side doors as much as from the passengers side, where oversizes people and yobs will pour in and out with total disregard of anything parked nearby...

you also gotta love those people with an MPV (and sliding sidedoor) who insist on loading all their shopping on the backseat (prolly so they can start munchin as they drive off or becuz the trunk is allready stuffed with junk) , and thus use your sidemirror as a convenient hook to prevent their trolley from rolling away....

Heck I hadn't thought of it like that! I'll tell you I couldn't believe the amount of dings on the door of my last car when I came to sell it and looked properly!

people here with "posh" cars tend to park at about a 45 degree angle to avoid the car park dents... it kinda only takes up 1 space (or occasionally 3, depending on the car)!

By poor B has been bashed from all angles before I bought her  so 1 or 2 more are hardly noticable.... she is in desperate need for a respray but I think i'll wait till after the summer..

Well Ricky, That is some finish on the paint work(y) Just how did they get it so shiney? Can imagine you are well pleased with it and long may it stay that way. Cheers.

Anyone know good bodywork people/ garage for B's in Somerset?

Have become the surprise owner of a '98 Blue B this year (hooray!!):D

But while parked up in London last year was dented heftily in o/s wing by anonymous (bah!!)

Also needs bit of an overhaul, some rust inside engine bay especially low down.

Still must be fairly good nick: was left at roadside without engine being turned over once, for almost 1 year. Wasn't even sure it would start at all, yet runs reaaaaalll smooth...... obviously was serviced asap. We just took it to S of France, yay. Small isue of rear exhaust section slowly disintegrating as we went (have accidentally left one of the small fiat tailpipes somewhere in Provence) & it deff needs replacing. Anyone used the Mortlake specialists stainless ones/ others you'd recommend?

Thanks!!!!! :)

Hi deegs, I live in Somerset. I use LB Auto's in Somerton. It is an Italian garage where I got my car. They really know what they're doing with the Barchetta and service others as well as mine.

I had the rear of my car repaired after some idiot crashed in to the back of it earlier this year. I used a repair place in Yeovil and the job looks fine but I didn't like their attitude much.

I will have a think if I know anywhere. Where about are you located?

I live near South Petherton. Somerton is no problem, I go over there v often to keep an eye on the parents who live near there, will sniff out said garage. Thanks!

The good news is that under the dent inside the wing is just a large empty space so lucky no other internal panels will need work, If it would have been at the front of the wing it would have stuffed the charcoal filter and if it was the other side the washer bottle would have been destroyed. Still looking at £500 - £700 bill me thinks, you might even have to blow in the front of the car to get it looking spot on but a good time to get shot of the badge and all the stone chips on the bonnet.
