I was just looking at an image of a pre-assembled backplate and brake-shoe assembly available from Axel Gerstl. It shows an interesting alternative to the stupid little coil-springs which are original spec for this purpose....and which don't work! Does anyone know where I could get these separately? Apparently they aren't available from Gerstl.
