Altering Ipod warranty need advice ;)

Hi there.
I have an ipod shuffle 4th gen which I've had for under a year. The earphones have packed up for no reason, I heard that apple will replace them free as part of a 1 year warranty. Is this true?

Also I have to register my ipod 'Valid purchase date'. This got me wondering, if i put for instance that I bought it last week would I have another years of warranty? rather than the actual date... is this a bit cheeky or what shall I do, i need new earphones

take it to the apple store
if you have used it through itunes then apple can see when it was first used to know when the warranty started

Hi guys thanks for the advice. I do have some after market sennheiser's which are awesome but dont seem to pack as much bass as the originals, despite the better sound quality. I am going apple store in bullring tommorrow to sort it

alter your EQ if you want more bass
