Theres a pipe connecting the airbox/air filter to the engine, what happens if i remove it. Will the car still work or will something bad happen <img src=icon_smile_dead.gif border=0 align=middle>

The modding will start, once my zorst arrives!!

Its about 6" long and it seems to be coming direct from the top of the engine and into the front part of the air box, where the air filter is. hope this helps. cheers thanx for the help.

From what you say, if the pipe comes from the top cover into the airbox, it is the breather pipe. This takes away any oil mist and gases from the inside of the engine and draws them back into the intake. If you disconnect it, I can honestly say from experience that it will make your car stink. Really stink.
I took mine off and put an ITG breather filter on instead, looked great, but all the oil vapours got drawn into the car through the heater when stopped.
If you had something like the K&N 57i kit, with the filter mounted directly on top of the carb, you could probably direct these gases at it by mounting a breather filter close by.
This wasn't practical with my induction kit, as the filter is mounted away from the carb.
I really wouldn't reccommend taking it off if you are keeping the standard air box.

Cheers for your help. I took your advise and did not remove, but I looked at it today and the damn thing fell apart it was only made of foil backed cardboard, so the car will be stinkin for a few days until my induction kit arrives. Are they easy to fit??

Ah. If it is the cardboardy type one, I was wrong.
This is the one that takes hot air from the top of the exhaust manifold and into the engine. It wont stink - but the car will be slightly slower to warm up on a cold morning and you might lose 1 - 2 mpg or so.
Never fitted a manufacturer's induction kit, so I don't know how easy it will be - I made my own.
