I have just taken out the old radio unit:bang: to fit an aftermarket stereo in i have also taken the multi changer out because the stereo doesn't have a space for the changer.

After getting all the cables connected together there was some life in the cd player however no display on the stereo , found out this was becuase there was not enough power going to the unit so had to get two leads and join them together to make the current flow through then i get a display and it works fine however upon switching the ignition on my dials turn up saying ' Loose Connection' only when the cd player is on. The rev counter, fuel gauge, oil and speedo do not work they drop right down and the light on the fuel dial flashes. The three lights in the rev counter are also flashing and then other dials on the display such as security and steering wheel and lit up to. :bang:

If i turn off the cd player or so that it has no source then the dials return to normal.

Went to local halfords they had not come across this before and said what i was already thinking , to go on fiat forum.

Can anyone help ?

(hope i have included the right information apologise if i haven't)

"Loose connection" message can be interpreted as "Voltages are all wrong!".

Most likely you've shorted something out or you're taking a high load from a low load circuit. I wouldn't make a habit of it

I have since solved this problem now , Halfords told me to connect 2 wires togehter but then took my car to a local garage he took one look at it and just pulled the wires apart and worked fine . God bless them , real nice chaps there in Mansfield Woodhouse didn't even want anything for their time (even though it was a short time) nice to know there are people who dont mind helping others in a time of need

:)
