Diff and Axle casing in for shot blasting and powder coating. Being rebuilt by A1 Premier Transmissions Ltd. Photos next week! :slayer:

btw, just seen the Duralumin sump guard by OMP. Surely I could make one myself for a fraction of the price?! (A mate runs an alumininum fabrications company)

1) Yup, that's the engine BUT you also need the wiring, ECU, front down pipe with lambda sensor, immobiliser, immobiliser pickup from the ignition barrel and a key. Someone on the Punto forum sells a chip for the ECU that allows you to do away with the immobiliser and key. It is best if you can strip the car yourself so you get all the bits you need. It helps to have a look at a Haynes manual first.

2) do you mean the tin stone guards? These are supposed to protect the disc from stones thrown up by the wheels but IMHO they don't do a lot. Lots of cars run without them.

3) Try a specialist fastener supplier. Have a look in the Yellow pages for one in your local area.

Well they say they are BUT I had a problem with a replacement front hub, if you look in the guide section (replacing the hub) I found that one hub has a small protrusion the other is flat. When I replaced the one with the protrusion it was grinding & rubbing somehow? so replaced it with the flat one and no problem.

Interesting.

I've just looked at the codes on the rubber bearing surround and they are very slightly different as are the units.
The old rears say '633540' and the old fronts say '633292C'
I have one new "rear" hub unit which does have the same code as the old rears.
Also the rear hub has a groove around the bearing seal that the rear axle flange lip docks with. The front one doesn't.
So I'm thinking you could use rear ones on the front but not the other way around.
