Hi,

I have a 2007 1.2L Panda and the front window Wipers and sprayer are not working. However the rear works ok.

I have been searching for answers and finally gotten to the point I need to ask for help...

Checks Done
Some weeks ago I found the fuse box near the steering wheel area. No breaks in any of the fuses in there so all appears ok. I was able to unplug one of them and found the rear wipers stopped working but if i remember rightly the rear may have its own fuse.

Investigation

I guess I need to find out if it's one of the following:

1. Wiper Motor,
2. Stalks (switches)
3. Relay
4. Broken Wiring

I'm guessing the wiper arms and the washer pump will not just use 1 shared motor so it's got to be something like points 2-4 right?

What are your thoughts please? Where would you start and where are things located in the car like Relay's, etc..?

Could potentially be the stalk. Can you hear a relay click? If not then I'd check the relay and see if there's any voltage even getting to it. Sadly, I do not know where it is, hopefully someone can shed some light on that. Alternatively, you can check for power getting to the washer pump and wiper motor to narrow things down however listening for a click should be enough to pinpoint the issue.

All the best!

wind the window down, radio off

listen for the whirr from the motor and report back, This will immediately tell us if its a mechanical or electrical problem

correct.

the relay is pretty hard to hear. its under the the steering wheel, tiny and in cased. Much easer to hear if the wiper motor is spinning First. Same wires fuse and relay just the polarity changed in the body computer.

Hi :)
Pretty sure the pump is common to front and rear.. so unlikely to be pump

Is it just water at front.. or do the wipers not work?

Switch being dead would obviously have the effect you are seeing..
correct motor just spins the other way. The Good thing as far as I remember the motor is easy to get to

theres a few things it could be apart from the stalk. Blocked jets, pipe off.

Please all note that the front wiper arms do not work in addition to the washer jets......

I will listen out for clicking tomorrow on the car.

If the arms and pump do not move when you press the washer switch the issue has to be the switch, relay or the fuse. If other things work normally, it's unlikely to be computer related as that ould be expected to stop everything.

OK SORRY GUYS.... I HAVE A CORRECTION.....

Rested just now.

1. Rear Wiper Works
2. Rear Washer Works (sprays)
3. Front washer works (sprays).
4. Front Wipers do NOT work.
5. When I move the stalk up and down I hear a little click say 1-2 milli-second after the actual click of the arm physically moving. The click i hear is in the steering column area. You can hear that little click also when you use the indicator stalk.

What does this mean then? Which part should I be looking at buying first?

this changes things considerably

let me look up the wiring diagram, etc.

I have this right, the front wipers dont move at all. even with the font washers or turn to any speed but everything else is fine

its hard to know where to start

here is the main fuse for the wiper motor. Unfortunately its will buried. Its not on in fuse areas but directly in the back of the body computer.

I will see if I can find a picture later

here the circuit diagram

i cant find this box you have pictured. where in the car is it? I have looked under bonnet and the right hand side is a box with a set of fuses under the cover but doesnt look like this?

right hand drive car just above the accelerator pedal

got the car here for about 5 minuets I will see if I can photo itView attachment 406361
ok Thanks i will take a look tomorrow when i get down there again to get to the car and have a look for that above the accelerator pedal. i wonder if this is the box i was in before when i was last looking at this problem 6 weeks ago. I found a fuse for the rear wiper.

mines got the fuses with the metal test points on the top

if you have a multi meter you can just put the negative lead anywhere with Good contact to the chassis and with the ignition on and the meter on say 20V touch the positive lead to the metal spots either side the fuse

save the bother of trying to pull them out. access is tight

My wiper motor did this stuff when it was failing. New (used) motor and it was sorted. I'm not saying you should rush out and buy a new (used in my case) wiper motor but it's looking like that's where this is heading.
Likewise, I was thinking the same. You could check for power getting to the motor to see if there’s a break in the circuit although @koalar method of checking systematically is definitely good practice.
