Technical 19" Alloys and DVD possibilities with Nav+

I recently swapped back from the 17" to 16" alloys on my Abarth temporarily, and whilst I hate to say it, I think it handles better on the 16s, which is bummer cos the 17s look so much nicer :(

That's an interesting pointer, Paul. Have you had yours lowered, though?

No the car isn't lowered Stu - However bear in mind that the 3 door has a very different suspension setup compared to the 5 door. In addition the shell on the 3 door is lighter and stiffer, so I think the improvement you get on the 5 door is probably more noticeable.

I think the 16s give better feel on my car - the roads round here are pretty bumpy and the 17s tend to skip around a bit - it some how feels more confident on the 16s. I'm going to swap back to the 17s next week, I'll see if I still feel the same then!

Just for the record, I think I'd avoid 18" and 19" alloys on the basis that ride is simply so hard - I think around here the car would fall to bits with extra vibration and shock induced into the car.

Paul

The 19"s look quite nice, Ride has not been affected even on the country roads around where i live.

Let me know what you think guys and gals?

Phil

Those are some handsome looking 19"ers. A very good looking Abarth. Nice Mazda RX8 in the background too I notice!!

its ok but it's not the Abarth. it may have 230bhp but it also struggles to do 16mpg even driving steady. Still cannot wait to get out of the company mazda into the Stilo. Call me mad but - you know its not mine really. At the end of the day the stilo is mine.... all mine and its gonna stay that way for a long time.

yep you definately get a different feeling in a car that you know is your own, to do what you want with.

So exactly what Size wheel and tyre did you go for Phil ?

And was there any extra things needed to be done to get them on, spacers etc ?

P.S.

I got your email mate and i'll get the pictures up as soon as I get some spare time ;)
Could you send me some details of the car Phil and a few words about what you like best about owning a Stilo Abarth (y)

Ok the wheels are TSW alloys called PACE. 19x7 all clad in Yokohama Parada Tyres 215/35/ZR19 - they have a special side wall that enables virtually no vehicle role on the tyres. They are not a cheap tyre but when you are spending that kinda money you might as well go the whole hog. Whole package should have been £1600.00 but through a fluke at the wheel place the suppliers cocked up the pricing structure and had to honour the quote we agreed on £880.00 fitted. He quoted for 17" wheels and tyres.

Yokohama Parada Tyres are standard fitment on the likes of Porsche and TVR So you can imagine they stick like s*** to a blanket.

They fit the stilo with no mods what so ever and actually that size and tyre package is listed in the TSW fitment guide. I was given a guarantee that they would fit no trouble and the man he was right. He said in his 25 years of selling alloys he thought they look the best for the car he had ever seen. (maybe just talk but hey it made my day) I must admit i keep going out and looking at it because it looks so bloody horny. Driving around people just stop and stare. Was speaking to Nige at Angel tuning last night on msn and trying to agree to what to have done as regards to the re map and cda. Think I will be up there fairly soon as soon as the Bank..... or wife allows. :D :D

(Will sort out the proper pics for your other site and give you some details on whys and wherefors etc on the car as soon as i get five mins... busy boy this week)

Re: DVD possibilities with Nav+

Hello all,

I'm a new Stilo Abarth owner and was wondering the exact same thing. I don't want to destroy the car by hacking it up and wedging screens where they clearly shouldn't go. So... any news on av sockets or any way of chipping the unit so as it can read DVD's (technically the Nav disc is a DVD so it shouldn't take much)

Any info/update will be great.

x

Re: DVD possibilities with Nav+

Hi there!

The Nav disk is on a CD - not a DVD - so unsure where you gleaned this information from.

No new updates on the av sockets, though - tbh, I haven't looked much into it, rather have separate screens in the back :)
