How they managed that then? Thought the 16v couldn't be made to rev high?

specs are pretty much right there on the page... the 16v is a really revvy engine from factory, just need nice strong internals and everything balanced up. The next thing you would run into is not flowing enough air through the head and having that sorted properly on a flow bench is not cheap!! I'm not really at all surprised that can rev to 10.5k though - would be interesting to know what the cam specs are in it though.

For Italians it is one and the same unfortunately. When an Italian friend of my better half saw my Cinq he said "Oh, a Fiat 500", and it took a lot of explaining that this is not a one

well the cinq is a 500 really - only confusion really is that fiat in their wisdom decided to use written script badges for a while. I kinda wish they had stuck with numbers and a cinq had a 500 badge and a sei a 600 badge.

I was under the impression you couldn't swap these to solid lifters, limiting the use of high lift cams?

not something i have looked into in detail and i am sure there is info here on this forum but generally speaking solid lifters allow higher rpm's than hydraulic type... From what i understand the issue with the later 16v heads was they didn't have the double valves springs the early heads had. The springs could easily be upgraded in the head with them but also i have seen later heads machined to take the double valve springs.

I think the thing to take away from it is you can do alot if you have all the toys in your workshop lol

Take's some real good valve train. thats the biggest limitation as far as i know.
