I got insured on my MK1 1.2 sporting today. I only turned 17 two weeks ago and I am paying £73 a month on provisional including legal cover. I think it's very cheap considering my age and the car but I know I'm gonna get hammered when I pass :)

Some companies give very reasonable rates on provisional cover (lets face it you spend all of your time with a very scared parent/teacher beside you so if anything you are less likely to crash than in your first few months of lunacy) then hammer you once you've passed it was like this when my ex was learning to drive. She got insured with no license on a clio 172 and put the main drivers insurance premium down but with a full license no way in hell would they let her near it.

Still not insured yet. Hopefully going to be insuring in the next few days. Taxing in on Monday.
the prices are stupid. How do they expect Students to pay.
People who are wanting to go to university and get a good job, and not drop outs who are working my age full time, we should get it cheaper!
It does my head in. We are the ones who get decent grades and are intellectual and deserve a bit of recognition

Doesn't it need to be insured before you can tax it?

And students are higher risk :p

Is it long until you turn 18? I was getting quotes for 2.5k on my 1.2 punto, when I turned 18 went to 1.4k.
