Tuning 12sx on carbs

hi...I am new here
and I would like to no if I could remove all the ecu and run the older type distributor.....as I would like to run it on a weber dgv carb.....is there a distributor out there off an earlier engine that fits the 1242cc one.....any help please

It's a daft idea for a road car. You might find a dizzy you could use -- maybe even a manifold -- on an old Panda.

BUT, carbs -- especially the DGV -- are a big step back from injection and electronic ignition. You'll almost certainly loose mid range (at least), throttle response, and will probably have to get the dizzy re-adjusted to suit the 1242 engine (ignition curve required will be different). Emissions will be problematic.

It's complicated and pointless, methinks.

the class I race in the rules are quit strict ....I cannot use any aftermarket part,,,,thats why I ask if they did an early carburettor model of the 1242cc 8 valve engine which was fitted with an distributor ignition or something like....but if not they may let me use something off or from another fiat engine only....do you get my idear now....cheers

If you can't use any aftermarket part, and it's a Mk1, why not chip the existing ECU? If you can find an early ECU, the chip will be plug in anyway (later ones need a chip carrier soldered in).

Hi mr fix You look like the man I need to talk to I want to run this in autograss class 2.....
