Hmmm... I understand your point, and i was kind of on the same track referring to "you can't have it all for £7000". If i was comparing my friends EVO FQ 360, things would be different! Remember though, it's not the dog in the fight, it's the fight in the dog, i have got used to, or adapted to the MJ speed and suspension now, i don't even notice the body roll anymore.

Just off subject for a minute, i think I've found a rival for the 100hp, well it's more of an Abarth rival with it's turbo etc. New Colt Ralliart, 1.5 litre, 0-60 7.4 secs, 131 MPH etc looks good.

Fair comment and quite right. You can't expect miracles at that kind of money and as we all know there will invariably be compromises and we all accept that. I really do like my 100hp, its great fun, I have a bit of a laugh in it inbetween places at work etc, its a good car and there is nothing else for that kind of money that touches it that I can think of.

Sure i'd have loved a twingo RS, but it would be 3K more and that would be pushing myself too far financially. Cool that you've got used to the MJ, as I say different folks, different strokes. I really loved the economy of the MJ but perhaps for me, it was just a bit too sensible.

Sounds like the Colt is punting firmly into Abarth/twingo RS territory with those kind of figures. Looks interesting although all previous colts have been fairly slated by the journos, maybe this one is something different? I expect the price will be on a par with the renault and abarth.

A 100HP might make sense for a production based 1400cc class of hillclimbing/sprinting though (?)

Good point. I suspect it will depend upon what the competition is. I think you generally tend to find with these things that a given car is the most competitive option (ie what everyone who is getting somewhere uses).

Hi all,

I've just bought a Panda 100hp in white to do auto tests, solo's, sprints and hillclimbs with... my initial intention is to strip the interior and get it as light as possible..

Welcome! It'll be interesting to hear how you get on with your project. I'd definitely like to know how much weight you could get out of the car and how ruthless you'd have to get so if you're really serious about gutting the car, get those scales out!

Keep us posted!

Yup, I agree but if you fancy something a bit different then it may be worth a punt. 106 Rallyes used to be great in 1400cc (and Citroen AX GT / GTi's before them) but they're all getting a bit long in the tooth. Who knows, maybe a well prepared and sorted 100hp would be a good contender.

Hello.

I have just got my Panda 100hp (white) and as the OEM H4 front lights are not so good, i was wondering if someone has any info about (better) tuning-lights?

Best regards,
Jaanus

Welcome to the forum!

I found the same as you and opted for some Osram Nightbreaker +90% bulbs which are a great improvement on the OEM ones and are on a par with the Philips Xtremes +80% I had in my last car. They're a big improvement but I just wish they had a bit more range on high-beam.

I've investigated HID kits which look like they may address this, but it's a bit risky opting for them as the Panda's standard headlight isn't designed for an HID bulb and I'd want to ensure if I did go for them there was no glare. Cheapest reputable kit I've found is £200 and they're not happy for a try-before-you-buy so I've left it....

I am using Philips BlueVision bulbs and these are way better than the others from FIAT factory. Still seems that these H4 lights are not ment to be used in public roads - they are just too small or smth. (n)

An option would be lights with DE-lenses, but i have not found such yet and it is possible, that there is non in the market available.

About HID - in Estonia these after-market-kits are illegal (should be all over EU?) and using these in such small car will definitely not be seen as OEM HID-lights.

Edit: the Panda is also too smart for its size - i replaced the OEM numberplate bulbs with brighter lexus-style LED-bulbs (5W vs 2W) and it started to inform me about "check the numberplate lights".
I suppose it will give the same error if replacing the halogen-bulbs with HID.

I used to own a 1990 AX GT. It was a cracking motor. The mid range was rather good(y)
Although I much prefer my HP100, it's much more fun:D

Yeah, they were great! I had a 1992 Ax GTi which was a really entertaining car, particularly with lift off oversteer galore.....

This is gonna be quite some little car when I've finished!!

Just ordered a megasquirt, Jimstim and DB9 cable on the net. Well, I wanted something to do over christmas!!

Theres loads of info on megasquirt over on the Cinq/Sei forum on here. Thanks guys. Your posts have convinced me that MS is the way forward.

The Panda kit car has 130hp from 1242cc. I'm banking on at least 120hp from my little screamer, maybe 140hp if I can find quality rods and pistons???
