Hello.

I have a question related phonic wheel self learn process. I can't find any topic what is started about this issue thats why I made my own.
My Stilo MW ( 2003, 1.6 16v 296.000 km) got some engine refurbishment. After that my Idle was really bad. I changed the Lambda sensor (Pre Cat), 2 ignition coil from 4 ( cylinder 1 and 4), I changed the throttle body, changed the ECU ( I had a second for spare :) ) but still de Idle is not good(connector cleanings, spark plug setup, etc). It can keep the rev at 750 but sometimes drops to 500 and 2-3 time from 10 the car stall. I find that the throttle body zero position was not good so I made the zeroing procedure and while I checked almost every parameter in MultiEcuScan I found that the Phonic Wheel Self learn is says "In progress". I tryed to do it properly but it seems I can't do it in a right way because the status not change to Completed. Even I follow the insturctions written in MES.:bang::confused:
Is somebody have similar experience?
Can this cause idle problems?

Ps: My last plan is to check the cambelt. That was changed as well and maybe it is missplaced with a few tooth.

Thanks in advance and Happy New Year to everybody. :)

Hi.

So just a quick update.

Today I drived the car to the local Fiat Dealer in Tatabánya.
As previously I wrote I had serios idle problem what I solved with the cleaning of the D4 connector. It was much better but not perfect.
My car was really "lazy" and the consumtion went up to 10 l /100km.
So I visited the Fiat dealer and they told me that my Phonic wheel was not setuped well and my throttle body was not teached as well ( even the MES told the opposite).
So they made this setup ( unfortunately I don't know how) and my car works perfectly. They checked the cambelt as well and that was ok.
The Consumption is 6,9l /100km the idle as it should and the gas reaction is far better than it was.

Moral of the day:
Even MES shows everything is ok or something (throttle body or phonic wheel) gives you "In progress" answer check this things because that can be the problem.
It cost only 50 EUR but you can spare lot of headache.

I hope this experience helps to somebody.

Gábor.
