There's a lot of threads about broken Stilos, people that need help and it does give a bit of a negative view so I thought I'd give our Stilo a little "pat on the back", "blow her trumpet" so to speak by showing her off here. She's used everyday, usually several short journey's but she never complains.

We brought her just over a year ago and planned to have her remapped(AngelTuning) but cancelled as I'd found someone to supply me with 100% Bio-Diesel at a good price which I'm still running her on today.

Decided to blank off the EGR and run a Tuning Box instead until I remapped a friends Audi using a Galletto, then wondered if a remap specific to running it on Bio would help. It did so then I messed around loading other MAPs into her.

Installed a switch to isolate the Sky Roof when I had bike racks fitted to the roof.

Fitted new EBC drilled and grooved disks and pads on all 4 corners.

Installed auxiliary inputs.

Installed a tow bar.

Installed extra lights into the front bumper.

Just before Christmas I installed a new MAP into her that has given her(and me) a new lease of life.

She's a brilliant car, never let me down, gives a great turn of speed and power when required(easily towed another Stilo - https://www.fiatforum.com/stilo/282264-brought-2002-stilo-jtd-project.html), excellent fuel economy an absolute pleasure to drive.

And finally, after an attempted car jacking my better half has decided we'll be keeping her and not trading her in for an Alfa.

Our Stilo ... :slayer: :worship:

Looking good Shadey. I agree that any casual observer will think all Stilo's break down at every street corner.

How often do you actually see them at the side of the road?

Like every car if you look after them they will look after you. Yes, i have had a bit of fun with my Stilo of late but it has been down to being parked up with a faulty tyre and the availability of new matching tyre being 10 weeks meaning the battery has died but apart from that its been a great car.

Its funny how when i look back to my Stilo mw how reliable it had been for the abuse that had been thrown at it. I think a egr valve, Rear disc and pads, couple of services, front disc and pads i think and not even a clutch or starter or any major part needed replacing. 1 wishbone was done for a mot. Oh not forgetting the dashboard!!
Even when i blew the engine it still got me home.
Even now after 10 months after i stuck it in my mums front garden and had to tow it to get it started, replacing the alternator (Ebay £50), front disc's and pads(ebay £50 , Rear brake caliper, rear pads and both hand brake cables about £30 from local motorfactors i still got in it the other day and wish i didnt have to get rid of it.

Might not get rid of yet, depends on what the mot man finds on 3rd of Jan but either way i miss my old bus.

Couldn't agree more.

Stilo's are seriously underrated, especially the Diesels, the JTD engines are brilliant and easily tuned via a remap.

Yes, unfortunately there aren't many low mileage JTD's left. I've covered about 200,000 miles in my two, and would gladly buy another.

Next car - maybe a Bravo JTD....

It's a shame really. Stilo's really are decent cars with an undeserved bad rep!
Wish I still had mine, she used to go all day long and the only trouble I had with her was that blowout on the M4 (due to a faulty tyre) those damned rear bushes (bad design) and some niggling little electrical issues (rear left side light cluster intermittently dying and coming back to life)
Might get a grande. Who knows? But if I find another stilo JTD I'm having her!

I reckon if you get a good un they are such good cars, and only the diesels make any sense to me at all.... (ducks)
I once started a thread on this or another forum in praise of the stilo, hoping to give the car some good press, and a member straight away came on and slated them.... I see he's banned on here now and it seems a more positive place, so I've stuck around this time.

Anyway Stilos, pick the right one and its smiles for miles(y)

My Stilo JTD's only weakspot seems to be the suspension - it's had both front springs (no suprise), plus both front suspension arms, one drop link, one top strut mount & one top strut mount bearing (or something like that).

Other than that rear brake pads at 65k & front discs & pads at 74k, plus a Crank Sensor at the same time. Front tyres lasted 24,000 miles & it's only needed 1 side light bulb since Sept 2008  A second one has recently blown but it's hardly worth moaning about, i'll get it done at the next service (due very soon). Consistently 510-550 miles to a tank of fuel & still powerful & fun to drive.

I keep toying with changing it this year as the thought of dash or DMF failure bills scare me, but it's only done 76,000 miles, has full leather & 17" Blades, doesn't show the dirt & in reality will i find anything that comes close for less than £7000. Unlikely.

I guess it just depends if i like a test drive in a Bravo or if i feel i can stretch to a MiTo

Whatever i get, i'll always miss 'Checking'...........'Check OK'......*PING*......'Danger of Ice' on a cold morning :D

It's a testament to FIAT's shocking lack of investment in the brand that the Bravo is only available in five door and no estate version. I think the merger with Chrysler has taken their eye off the ball. Unless they put some serious investment into new models soon, I fear for the future of FIAT in Europe...

ah i approve of the stilo love going on in here :)

My MW is pushing 200k miles now and engine is still like new (115 JTD). The car has had a very hard life. the first 100k of its life was as a taxi - and since i've had it its just been a workhorse (30k miles last year).

It has had some electrical gremlins over time but this appears to be down to shoddy work in the past, wires not being where they should be and rubbing though and things like that. But everything still works and it has only broken down once, a pin in the gear selector mechanism snapped and fell out - but she drove 200 miles home in 2nd gear no problem, didn't even break a sweat.
