Technical Connect Nav+ Master code request

Technical Connect Nav+ Master code request

If your dealer or any other dealer can't or won't get the code for you, your only option to get the code is to send the CN+ to Magneti Marelli in Italy. See post #6 above.

If you want to bypass the code, you could flash the firmware to version 9.8.

In the Netherlands you only need the serial nr. of the CN+ (on the upper lid) and sometimes an id if the dealer don't know you - no need for the donor cars number !
Costs about 40 /45 euro, takes about 7-10 days.

No,my stilo 1.2(16v) wasn't Navi. I found it in a bulgarian fiat forum i desided to install it in my car, but when i add additional 12+ from lighter
on desktop came "Master Code" i the km counter was flashing

Hi,yes i now for the delay and it isn't problem already for me. Thaks for link with instruction for install,I even found another one :
https://www.fiatforum.com/stilo/25227-how-install-connect-nav-fiat-stilo-1-6-dynamic.html, but I don't know what to do with Master Code, and can't use services of local fiat dealer. What can say about this:

All you have to do, is to connect the CANBUS A-Line first, after that connect the CANBUS B-Line. With this you override the Mastercode on the CN+."
and this :

The thing with the can bus lines is correct though. works exactly that way

The CN+ you've fitted was probably a replacement unit so didn't match the original registration number. Dealers are supposed to notify ISR when they fit a replacement but sometimes don't bother.

If you fit the 4 second delay, it won't ask for the code but as the CAN won't know the CN+ is there, you may not be able to access the trip or vehicle setting menus.

If you install 9.8 firmware it won't ask for the code and you should get access to all menus.

Thanks for you reply, how do I go about installing 9.8? The unit currently has 9.7 so could do with an upgrade anyway.

EDIT: Ignore this post, mission accomplished :). Now time to find a setup CD download so I can choose English as my language :).

Here's a link to download the 9.8 update. You need to burn it onto a good quality, blank CD-R at slow speed.

https://www.fiatforum.com/downloads.php?do=download&downloadid=420

Here's the update procedure:

NB All stored contacts, and trip info. etc. will be lost once this update starts.

You must follow the instructions exactly as follows:
  1. Remove the SIM Card and any CD from the CN+.
  2. Turn on the CN+ unit and clear any error messages using the “ESCAPE” button.
  3. Insert the update disc and wait for the unit to display “CD Error” on the screen. Press the “ESCAPE” button to clear this message.
  4. Turn off the CN+ unit by pressing the “ON” button.
  5. Remove the ignition key and then wait 30 seconds.
  6. With the ignition key still removed, switch on the CN+ by pressing the “ON” button.
  7. The update procedure will begin. Ensure that the CN+ is not switched off during this procedure! The update may stop for a few moments at 50%, this is normal. When completed, the FIAT logo will appear on the screen and the CD will automatically be ejected. Remove the CD.
  8. Switch the CN+ unit off using the “ON” button.
When you switch the CN+ back on, it should show 9.8 in the bottom right hand corner of the blue Fiat screen.

After you've updated the firmware to 9.8, the language of the CN+ will have reverted to Italian. To change it back to English, you will need the setup disc.

Here's a link to the setup disc. You need to burn it onto a good quality, blank CD-R at slow speed. Do not use the same disc you used for the 9.8 update.

Here's the procedure to change the language:
  1. Switch the ignition (and CN+ if it doesn't come on with the ignition) on.
  2. As soon as the CN+ starts, insert the setup CD and allow the unit to boot up automatically.
  3. Press "SETUP" then "Language" to change the language.

Thanks again.

All going well, nav working fine, one thing though, I only get the flashing mileage intermittently. And it doesn't bother me when it does flash. Is there any really need to put in a delay circuit? thanks.

Hey all,

I just started fitting a CN+ unit to my 2004 Stilo Dynamic JTD and all was going swimmingly until the 12V ingition live was fitted.

Important point to note that the unit is already showing 9.8 in the blue start up screen.

Sadly the unit is now asking for the "Master Code" hence my post here.

From reading the above I gather that the options are:

1) Install 4 second delay (or dont bother with ignition live) which may mean I cannot access consumption etc, shame really as this would have tidied everything together.

2) Reflash to 9.8 but the unit is already on 9.8 so question if this will work.

3) Speak to the dealer (have been helpful previously!) and see if they can order a code to gain full functionality and then use the FES to proxy realign and lose the flashing mileage. Big questions here are on the dealer being helpful and the FES being able to proxy realign to stop the flashing mileage.

So, assuming I have this somewhat correct, has anyone had any luck in the UK with option 3 above?

Cheers

No.. Sorry. CN and CN+ codes are not calculatable. They are held on databases by Fiat and Magneti Marelli. You can get the code from a Fiat dealer if you know the registration number of the car the CN was originaly fitted to. This often doesn't work because a lot of CNs were replaced under warrenty and dealers didn't notify ISR of the change. You would also need to know the history of the car to know whether it was original fitment.

Another way is to send a photograph of the barcode on the paper label on top of the CN to Fiat or Magneti Marelli (depending on whether it's a new or reconditioned CN) via a Fiat dealer. Most Fiat dealers don't realise they can or don't want to do this though.

Last an most expensive method is to send the CN to Magneti Marelli in Italy to be re-coded. Last time I enquired about this, I received an e-mail from MM saying it would be a minimum charge of €180 (EUR) including return postage.

Thanks Stilo Nutter, I had been reading that and think I will be paying a visit to the dealer tomorrow with a few photographs and a smile!!!

Have you managed to do it or is it another "how far does this rabbit hole go" scenario?

Yellow :)
